So I've got a bit of a problem. These memories we've been getting showed me there's these creatures I used to deal with called Nobodies. It's weird, but they don't have hearts, but they look human. Most of them. Some are really weird looking gray monsters. There was guys in black coats too that were Nobodies. They were the human kind. I don't get why they looked human but the monster ones didn't. I was good about ignoring the memories until I remembered that I'm apparently one of them??? And it's making me wonder how we can tell if we have hearts in the first place? Not the beating in your chest to keep you alive kind. What's the point of a heart since emotions are chemical reactions? Is not having one okay? My biggest question is: how do I tell my twin that I'm not human and we're not related in a way that won't make them have a complete breakdown???

Because it's hard not to assume when you think you're human your whole life and suddenly you find out you're not?

Then shouldn't I be remembering him? I don't have a single memory outside of this 'life' with him in it.

We were identical twins, but something changed, and now we're not. That's why I'm wondering if we're related at all.

Would it really be a secret? You're saying you don't know how to broach this topic with your family, and you don't want to hurt them by saying the wrong thing... You're just giving yourself time to figure it out. There's nothing weird about that.

It means not being able to feel emotions. A hollow shell left with only memories of what it was like to have a heart.

I don't know. If he insisted on it then maybe? But he's a lot more emotional than me so it's not the same if it was the other way around.

Nobodies are beings that are just the shell of their former selves without a heart, which is why they try and collect hearts to get theirs back.

It's upsetting to think what I'm feeling is fake, but at the same time it can't be fake since, right?

I think I'm more confused.

Are you thinking you're not related because of the memories you've had and the changes those might have caused in you? Because if so, that's bullshit! Firstly, I'm pretty sure you're still related. Secondly - and more importantly - even if you're not, that still shouldn't matter. You're still twins, you're still siblings! Genetics doesn't make family.

As for telling them you're not human, I guess that depends on if they're on here or not. If they are I'd suggest being open and honest with them about what you remember and any changes that's happened. If they're not I'd suggest you start with figuring out a way of proving what you're saying is real and not just in your head.

I'm not a philosophy student, so I'm just going what I know about a physical heart. If you go into the explanation people like to use, the heart's supposedly the center of emotions in humans, so not having one means no emotions apparently.

Then how can we be twins if genetics don't matter?

I have some proof already why it might be real. Like other memories and things I've gotten from the Retrospec mailbox. I just gotta figure out a way to say it and not make it sound like I don't want to be family, just that we aren't.
