... Help.

Kenta Ooshima shared a photo.
06/07 near Viaea Village

Would anyone have any idea of how to make this thing work?

These?

[ he pulls a pack of tide pods from the shelf, then hands it to kenta to examine. ]

Whoever told you that was right — these are good for beginners. After you put your clothes in the washer, you just pop one of these in, and you're good to go! You don't have to pour out liquid detergent, or anything.

Some have different scents, others are for different kinds of loads... It's complicated, so you can learn it later.

[ it's too advanced for kenta right now!! also, he just assumes Rich People have dryers by default... ]

When the washer finishes washing your clothes, they're going to be clean, but soggy — so you toss them in the dryer next. Adding a dryer sheet is optional, but they make your clothes feel softer and smell nice afterwards. I recommend it, but it's up to you.

[ a nicely scented box of dryer sheets goes into the cart! ]

Yeah! Same goes with washers. In those cases, you'd just hand-wash and air-dry the clothing yourself. In those cases... I guess you'd need detergent? I don't know how many fancy clothes you own, but just in case, let's get a small bottle of detergent before we go.

[ he's not saying it out loud, but he's definitely guessing that kenta owns a lot of fancy, high-end pieces of clothing... ]
