It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm afraid things are really quite busy here, and unfortunately our liaison has been compromised. Well...so have a lot of people, actually. Are you still yourself if you're not the self you were? It's the kind of conversation we've had a lot of times, around here. I've always only been myself, but if I woke up tomorrow as someone else, would I still be me even if I wasn't? I think rather than worrying about that the best thing I can do is focus on trying to sort things out as best I can. I'm a little worried, actually, but I think I can manage to give everyone a shot even if I can't fix things on my own or even with everyone's help. But you can help! Or at least I think it will help if you think about what it means to be "you". It's okay if that answer changes or doesn't. Just hold onto that concept and don't let it go. And maybe tell other people what you think it means? Not like I'm saying you have to talk about that. I think usually you all just talk about anything, and I think that is also a good way to hold onto who you are and who you want to be. Sometimes I think it'd be fun, all those parties or little plans. I've never spent much time outside of these walls, did you know? I don't have time to really ramble, though. Those of you who know what I mean, we're doing our best. Those of you who don't, you do your best too. Pay attention to the things you tell yourself, and I'll try to fix what I can fix. If you believe in linearity, you're the one who won out in the end, not him. That's something to take comfort in.

Maybe in the past life... But if he's here now, and this reality is different, what's to say the same order of events will play out? I can't exactly say I'm comforted.

I'm guessing a restraining order won't do much. There's a chance that things will go differently, a chance that things will progress the same. But that's how it always is, I can't really offer anything less generic.

A restraining order against myself would be functionally useless. Generic advice doesn't help me in any way, either... I'm not entirely sure what your motive is here.

The motive is trying to understand. It's hard to hold a conversation if I don't.

Understand what? The alternate me? That's something Retrospec has to answer... They're the ones who are responsible for me even having to deal with him in the first place.

Yeah. I have to learn about him through you, though. In exchange, I'll help shoulder that responsibility for figuring out how to deal with him.

I don't even know a whole lot about him... Just based off of what I have been told and what I've seen in my memories. Which just raises the question if they're similar at all. So I'm not entirely sure on how you plan to help when he's still largely an enigma.

You can consider it an IOU for the future. Or if you'd ever want somebody to try triggering more of those memories, or prefer to avoid them overall.

I want to avoid him. The memories I am not so sure about... They could be useful, but maybe not. I don't want to risk him coming out again though.

Avoidance route, then. Since memories will probably come as they come, regardless of what you do. It's summer now. Do you have plans?

I essentially missed somewhere between five and six months of school. I'm behind.

I'd kind of be surprised if anybody could keep up with work and school with everything going on... I think there were two or three months where I hardly went to work. A miracle I didn't get fired.
That much school, it might be easier to just take a semester off and start over.

It's high school, I don't have the option. Although I turn 18 in December, so I can just drop out after that... But until then, my hands are tied.

...18 makes it your senior year, though? Would you drop out so close to the end?

I missed over half my junior year. So I have to catch up first. I am not on track like everyone else is... That is why I am attending summer school.

I see. Do you have any fun subjects?

No. It's all a waste of time.

So? There's air conditioning in the room I live in. There's air conditioning in many grocery stores. That doesn't mean I'm any more inclined to attend school... It's like I said, I have to because I am behind. It's only for six more months, however...
