It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm afraid things are really quite busy here, and unfortunately our liaison has been compromised. Well...so have a lot of people, actually. Are you still yourself if you're not the self you were? It's the kind of conversation we've had a lot of times, around here. I've always only been myself, but if I woke up tomorrow as someone else, would I still be me even if I wasn't? I think rather than worrying about that the best thing I can do is focus on trying to sort things out as best I can. I'm a little worried, actually, but I think I can manage to give everyone a shot even if I can't fix things on my own or even with everyone's help. But you can help! Or at least I think it will help if you think about what it means to be "you". It's okay if that answer changes or doesn't. Just hold onto that concept and don't let it go. And maybe tell other people what you think it means? Not like I'm saying you have to talk about that. I think usually you all just talk about anything, and I think that is also a good way to hold onto who you are and who you want to be. Sometimes I think it'd be fun, all those parties or little plans. I've never spent much time outside of these walls, did you know? I don't have time to really ramble, though. Those of you who know what I mean, we're doing our best. Those of you who don't, you do your best too. Pay attention to the things you tell yourself, and I'll try to fix what I can fix. Please take care. Joanne Wiseman Technician 2nd class Retr spec Incorporated
Per the mod plotting post, you may use this post to obtain one of this month's freebies! This month's freebie can be earned by turning in a thread on this post that has 10 or more consecutive comments from you. Additionally per the mod plotting post, new AUs are now considered live and operational, though the dreamshares are not yet!
Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. |

what a load of horseshit
i get that youre trying to sound profound and thoughtful but you just sound severely out of touch
spare us your attempts at intelligence and do something useful for once if you want to win us over
in other news, to follow up on what came up last month
turns out things can always get weirder
apparently my supposed alternate self also was an astronaut on top of everything else
not gonna lie
i feel like an underachiever compared to what he did in sixtysome years
also if you had the superpower to read peoples minds and control their actions would you call it mind hacking
or does that sound like the stupidest thing ever?
my moneys on the latter but clearly someone thought that was a good idea so im curious

maybe he had the mental capacity of a fourth grader though
might explain a lot
no subject
But this could be a case of an old person trying to be "hip" with the younger generation. Something like "hey, fellow kids, I also know what hacking is and how cool it is".
no subject
think it mightve been the gun he was pointing at our faces
and the fact that he probably kidnapped us in the first place
no subject
What
no subject
no subject
Do you know why he kidnapped you?
no subject
all he said was that his motives were
and i quote
very complex
no subject
... are you sure he wasn't a 12 year old pretending to be an old man?
no subject
so if he was he had some damn good makeup on
who knows
maybe ill get a memory of him explaining things once retrospecs come up with something
or maybe theyll just go with more cliched movie villain ranting
no subject
For some reason, I'm invested in learning more about this strange man and his cliche complex motives.

It wouldn't be right to call it mind hacking. You're controlling far more than just the mind alone.
Do you agree with me, Junpei?

seems like its how he capped off a life of action hero adventuring and escaping dangerous situations
and im not going to argue you there
wasnt my term in the first place
just thought it sounded like the stupidest shit id ever heard
but youre right
the fact that its inaccurate doesnt help things at all
no subject
Wouldn't it be more accurate to call it possession?
That seems like a more fitting term.
no subject
more like my age now
dunno if thats exactly it
sounds like he could read everyones mind without really trying
but could control peoples actions with more effort?
wasnt super clear
no subject
We may not be able to understand it even if we try.
no subject
i know this because he said so himself while refusing to explain them
strange guy to say the least
no subject
Indeed, he sounds like a strange fellow. Aren't we all strange in some way?
We can hardly call ourselves normal.
no subject
id consider myself pretty normal
all things considered
no subject
You're still the same man I remember. That won't ever go away.

It's not too uncommon for people to forget themselves. Regardless of that fact, you'll always be you.

sounds like he had a quantum computer but that was unrelated to this supposed power of his
