This was not quite as outwardly destructive. I am left to assume her tactic was a... deliberate, violent override of something inside her that left her able to disregard her own safety in the name of more anger.

I am not certain what the cost was, but I can assume it was Pyrrhic given how her mysterious companion admonished her for it. I do not see why it would be necessary. She was already adept at killing.

To my chagrin, yes. That is what I have been able to deduce. What I have not been able to deduce is why.

I am not concerned over why she is murderous. I am concerned as to why Retrospec believes that I am the appropriate vessel for someone this murderous.

Many reasons. As a student of history, I know the dangers of being one who thinks it is perfectly fine to kill indiscriminately. And as an adult who functions in normal society.

If Retrospec has chosen this path for me, they may have done it for a reason. They may know things about me that I do not know about myself, or they may simply be toying with me to force me into a more advantageous position for their ends.

I do not appreciate it.

Conditioning someone who understands military strategy to be perfectly fine with the concept of senseless violence. I do not precisely know what advantage it holds, but it is always a possibility.

I am content with letting it remain something that will need to be dealt with later until I am finished with my own business. Provided Retrospec does not force my hand.

It depends on the way it is forced.

I refuse to be made into their weapon.

I know. Putting it into practice will be significantly more difficult.

If they do not wish for me to put these skills to use, I will have no problems. I will live with this knowledge as I have lived with the knowledge of countless other bloody tragedies. I can continue to ignore Retrospec as I have for so long.

i just said they might not want you to kill anyone
is killing where you draw the line between what is and isn't okay for retrospec to make you do

It is foolish for them to think they are able to force me to do anything against my will.

Killing would be a hard line, but far from the only.

the possibility that retrospec is giving you these memories to make you be their "murder robot"

Anything that significantly interrupts me from what I have spent the greater part of my life in this city to try to accomplish. Anything that I cannot parlay into independent research. I have my goals. I will not be delaying them any further.
