[text] i could say i'm sorry but i'm not (except i am. i really, really am.)
I've finally got this song together, but I'm still stumped on the title. I'm putting the lyrics in here for anyone who's got any ideas. Consider this an open call for song title suggestions.
Lyrics:
You punched a hole in my heart, and now
I'm an empty vessel, waiting for the music to fill the blank spaces.
What am I supposed to do now?
Nothing left but to forget all the sneering faces
I feel like a forgotten bag of chips abandoned on the streets, my soul shattered and scattering to the winds like potato leaves.
I’d break the whole world if I could
Just to make sure no one ever has to grieves
Again, and I'd break the whole world but I don't think that I should
The emptiness inside of me is hardening like cement
And now there's nothing that can fit through the cracks and spaces
Nothing left but to watch the spiraling descent
Nothing left but to remember all the sneering faces
I feel like a forgotten bag of chips abandoned on the streets, my soul shattered and scattering to the winds like potato leaves.
I’d break the whole world if I could
Just to make sure no one ever has to grieves
Again, and I'd break the whole world but I don't think that I should
[fade out]

It's not the same, of course.
I do miss certain things, though. I mean, who wouldn't?
But my music is still out there. People still listen to it. And I can always make more whenever I want to.
no subject
So what kind of music stuff do you teach?
no subject
And some languages.
no subject
And languages? The surprises just keep on coming.
Which ones?

[She was a little bit of a prodigy.]

I can barely keep up in Spanish class.

It's just a matter of what you're good at, I suppose.
no subject
Not like I've got a lot going for me in the "good at stuff" department, though.
no subject
You wrote a song.
That's more than most people ever do.
no subject
But nah, I mean it more like. Music's nice but it's just a side thing, you know?
no subject
But I suppose.
What is your 'main' thing then?
no subject
Football.
no subject
Oh? Do you play professionally?
no subject
no subject
But that's certainly something to be proud of. Is it what you're hoping to do once you graduate as well?
no subject
I might do college. Or I could always just join the army.
no subject
I hope you're giving it a lot of thought.
no subject
Besides, who said I can't do both? The ROTC is always looking for warm bodies.
no subject
You can.
But I've found the military tends to change people in ways they don't really expect.
no subject
Yeah, I know.
But it's not about you, it's about protecting your country and honoring the people who keep us all safe.
I don't know yet if that's where I want to go, but if I do, then whatever happens to me is a price I'm willing to pay in the name of protecting the United States.

Everything is about you and the choices to make to shape who you will be at 26.
And 56.
Just think it over.

I get the concern, but I know what I'm talking about. I've spent my whole life on army bases, so I know what the army is like. If I do it, it's not gonna be on some random whim. And if I don't do it, that won't be on a whim either.
[ At least as far as what he plans on doing. Whether or not it actually ends up that way, well...James doesn't have the best track record of sticking to the plan. ]
