A Trunk Full of Stuff

So this is a trunk that is definately bigger on the inside. I can fit a lot of stuff in here and I got it at the end of the year along with all of this wizarding school supplies. (Which completes all of the things required to get for the school my other self went to as a first year). Like... I don't know what to do with it all, most of the books are blank: 1. Two sets of plain work robes (black) 2. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide) 3. One winter cloak (black, with silver fastenings) 4. name tags. 5. One plain pointed hat (black) COURSE BOOKS The Standard Book of Spells (Grade 1) by Miranda Goshawk A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble OTHER EQUIPMENT 1 cauldron (pewter, standard size 2) 1 set glass or crystal phials 1 telescope 1 set brass scales Does anyone have memories of being in a school that was this structured? Or got a pile of books you can't read?

Yes, Dragon. There are at least 10 different types of dragons in the world Draco comes from. There was even this school event where four students each had to battle a dragon to obtain a golden egg. All very nasty.

I am conflicted. Dragons are real. Real real dragons, not those ones that look like they're made of metal that pop up outside of the cities.

Real dragons.

But people skin them for gloves.

Bummer.

Probably for more than boots to be honest. The headmaster of Hogwarts (the school Draco goes to) discovered twelve uses of dragon’s blood. So there are many uses. And also, you'd might feel different if one was trying to scorch you.

They even breathe fire? That's. That's so cool. I'd run if one was trying to hurt me, but I don't know if I'd have the heart to hurt it back.

Dragons. You didn't think this was awesome?

All dragon's breath fire.

And the student fighting the dragon didn't hurt it. He flew on a broom and maneuvered around it to grab the egg. The dragon wasn't hurt.

And yeah... sure, Dragons are interesting. I have a book explaining them (at least a short description of each) if you ever want to look at it.

The school in my memories was anything but structured... even at the exclusion of "magical" equipment, a supply list like this probably wouldn't have been provided.

So what's the worst that can happen to a student if you're missing something from the list? Do you know yet?

You can't complete your course work I guess. That or good luck completing your potions assignment without a cauldron.

What kind of school did your other self go to?

Not a very pleasant one, if what I've seen of it so far is anything to go by... it was the kind of place where teachers threatened you if you put so much as a toe out of line. One in particular was adamant that I get a crew cut because boys weren't allowed to have long hair... fortunately for me, though, that teacher had another thing coming.

And what, you can't just go back to the store and buy the equipment that you forgot? That's what I always do if I need one more folder or notebook.

Well... I'm not sure where he got his school supplies, but the school is in the middle of nowhere in the UK, far from any cities, and they are not allowed to leave campus except on supervised outings. So no, he couldn't. Not unless his parents sent it to him through owl mail. That would still take time to reach him.

i don't remember going to school at all
i'm pretty sure past me was a grade school dropout
but i did get a big pile of comics with a ton of blank or missing pages
it was the first thing i got from retrospec
they've mostly filled in with the missing stuff on their own since then

Comic BOOKS! Oh good grief, why couldn't I have gotten comic books! Probably more interesting than remembering 1000 magical herbs and fungi.

What was in the comic books?

stories about me and cap and the young allies fighting in the war
they were mostly made up and terrible
but real enough that they didn't fix themselves until i remembered the events they were based off of
and they're DEFINITELY more interesting than herbs and fungi

Whose "cap"? and which war? World War 1, 2, Korean???? What?

I mean, I'm sure some of these books would be interesting to remember. Like the transfiguration book. But this one doesn't have anything on animagi, so I'm guessing those are in a different book.

You went to a magical boarding school?

My other self did, yes, it is called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is one of many wizarding schools.

One of many? How many are we talking about? One per city? One per country?

One of I don't know how many. There are two others close to Hogwarts:

Beauxbatons Academy of Magic (France) and Durmstrang Institute (Northern Europe)

So only in Europe then? Or maybe other parts of the world don't use a centralized school type system?

It's a book about how to defend against dark forces, now about Dark Forces.

Besides, it's mostly blank.

That being said, you'd probably be reckless with magic considering you seem to want to learn the dark arts.
