I'll keep this short and to the point to give you guys time to strategize, catch up, all of that.

Congrats on your Magatus missions. Looks like everything's been cleared out as best as we can, but the region's been evacuated thanks to a couple of factors.

The new problem is we just added a bunch of people to city limits.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

Bad news: need some people out in Pesgare to do some deepdiving and recovery. It doesn't look like there's anything out there that'll kill you, but I need something from down there to stabilize Recollé itself.

Good news: got the subway working. Did you know it was just about coding? That's a little crazy to me and okay, I might have found out on accident, but…whatever was blocking exits from the city was just a false creation.

It means getting out of here and checking out the progress outside. The trains will be ready for departure in about a week, I'll get some maps drawn up and everything. I could really use some of you on location scouting.

Finally…who knows about machinery? We've got a problem we should probably look into, but keeping track of that eye's a huge pain in the ass.

Yes, but in my case "God and everyone" was just my boyfriend, so. Not a whole lot he's not already painfully aware of.

It was honestly worse when the network just decided to send out my entire biography. Really needed that kick in the teeth, thanks, Retrospec.

Privacy is an illusion as far as this entire city is concerned, to say nothing of the concept of not nearly getting killed every thirty seconds. All this for the good of saving some worlds that we don't have a connection to anymore, and many of us don't want a connection to besides. It's a bit of a travesty, really.

Believe me, I'm aware... painfully aware.

Well, there's also the prospect of saving our own skins. That's what I'm in this for now, more than anything. Erebonia may be dead and gone, but I'm here now. I'd be doing myself, past a present, a disservice by simply laying down and taking whatever's going to get thrown my way.

As things are now, yes, and I'm more or less doing the same thing. However, I have to question exactly why they couldn't just give us a mulligan by "rescuing" our souls, putting us down here like they did, and then just leaving well enough alone. It's hardly our fault they decided to overstep bounds by playing God like this and all.

I can't deny you have a point.

But it is what it is, at the end of the day. We can scream until our lungs give out and Zee on high will still refuse to hear us.

It's all we can do to take the second chances we've been given and fight like hell to keep them.

If it's any consolation, a fair amount of us are planning a tremendous class-action lawsuit after all of this is over.

I simultaneously want to know how one goes about being a part of that and how that would even go over in a court of law.

Don't worry, as someone that's been dragged into this you're involved by default.

...As for the latter question, "creatively." It's not impossible, but it's going to be a hideous pain.

Yeah... I had a feeling bringing up "they held our souls hostage" in front of a judge wasn't going to pan out.

I mean, an argument can be made for hostage-taking simply because souls have legal precedent as being represented as body parts. It's why you can't sell your soul on eBay.

You really do learn something new every day.

One of the few things this profession is truly good for. It's not the courtroom drama or the nonexistent glory, it's facts like that. Or ones that will give you a minor crisis if you think about them too long.
