retrospec | (no subject)

I'll keep this short and to the point to give you guys time to strategize, catch up, all of that.

Congrats on your Magatus missions. Looks like everything's been cleared out as best as we can, but the region's been evacuated thanks to a couple of factors.

The new problem is we just added a bunch of people to city limits.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

Bad news: need some people out in Pesgare to do some deepdiving and recovery. It doesn't look like there's anything out there that'll kill you, but I need something from down there to stabilize Recollé itself.

Good news: got the subway working. Did you know it was just about coding? That's a little crazy to me and okay, I might have found out on accident, but…whatever was blocking exits from the city was just a false creation.

It means getting out of here and checking out the progress outside. The trains will be ready for departure in about a week, I'll get some maps drawn up and everything. I could really use some of you on location scouting.

Finally…who knows about machinery? We've got a problem we should probably look into, but keeping track of that eye's a huge pain in the ass.

Only if you plan on breaking the law. Refusing to cooperate in this situation isn't a crime. Might risk making you look like a jerk to the other people on the network though.

Considered there's at least one other person on here who thinks you can be arrested because of what you say on the internet...

I don't particularly care about how it ends, as long as it does. Retrospec can't benefit off of us forever. They can't meddle forever. Burn it all down for all I care. Whatever it takes.

If it became evidence for a case. As I said, it all depends on if a law is broken.

Believe me, I'm tired of Retrospec interrupting all these lives too. I'd love to take them to court. We have to survive if that's ever going to happen though. Right now people are just trying to make sure we don't all go down.

Can't you just sue them now and get it over with? Maybe paying restitution will bankrupt them. That'd be nice.

Considering people on dropping off the app like flies, I say they just pull the plug. They should be close enough to their objective to make it work. I'm not going to change my mind so easily, just because there's others on here who think it's fine to be coerced into free labor for, what? "The greater good"?

That would require bringing them to court. Not possible when the leaders of the company are both incapacitated and physically out of reach.

The greater good is plenty for a lot of people. But if it's not for you, how about living to see another day? You don't want to get trapped in a pocket dimension for the rest of your existence right?

My life already feels like a pocket dimension. I don't see the difference.

Access to food, water... People being able to communicate with you.

Didn't realize I was supposed to be arguing a case here? More of a matter of "let's be logical."

Except that those things you listed mean different things to different people. I've already had interrupted access to basic necessities at different points in my life, and trying to ply me with such things comes across differently than say, a suburban family that's never suffered any real hardship. It certainly seemed like you were trying to convince me that I should think of those people over myself, and I'm not going to. Because I don't care. The greater good has never helped me and I don't see why I should make a sacrifice to make other peoples' lives better when they already aren't bad.

I'm trying to appeal to your sense of self-preservation. Like it or not simply pulling the plug on the network is dangerous including for you. Besides if you joined the sleepers the payment you're after almost definitely won't come.

I'm doubtful that I'll be receiving anything from anyone, as per usual.

Unlike everybody else, I don't see anything worth preserving, on or off the app. It's going to be miserable either way... Besudes, it's only gotten more dangerous with the app, so it follows that pulling the plug is really the lesser of two evils. Which seems like it'd appeal to your better nature... Or really anyone else with an opposing moral alignment, I suppose. But what do I know about you weird self-righteous people.

You keep mentioning "everybody else" but it sounds more to me like you're really just talking about yourself. You've come a long way Malik, Detective Togusa told me about your efforts and recommended sealing your records. Don't give up on yourself just yet.

I'm not. I simply have no faith in anyone's ability to get things done.

Thankfully the fate of the universe makes a good motive.

I'm still not entirely convinced.
