I'll keep this short and to the point to give you guys time to strategize, catch up, all of that.

Congrats on your Magatus missions. Looks like everything's been cleared out as best as we can, but the region's been evacuated thanks to a couple of factors.

The new problem is we just added a bunch of people to city limits.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

Bad news: need some people out in Pesgare to do some deepdiving and recovery. It doesn't look like there's anything out there that'll kill you, but I need something from down there to stabilize Recollé itself.

Good news: got the subway working. Did you know it was just about coding? That's a little crazy to me and okay, I might have found out on accident, but…whatever was blocking exits from the city was just a false creation.

It means getting out of here and checking out the progress outside. The trains will be ready for departure in about a week, I'll get some maps drawn up and everything. I could really use some of you on location scouting.

Finally…who knows about machinery? We've got a problem we should probably look into, but keeping track of that eye's a huge pain in the ass.

I've done more than a few fetch quests in my life. As for disappointment, I've got about a hundred auditions in my past that helped me prepare for that, so that's nothing now.

Auditions for what?

Movies, TV shows, commercials, you name it. For every acting job I've gotten, I've probably been turned down a dozen times. It keeps the ego from getting out of hand.

You're in the entertainment business? How long have you been doing that?

Since I was seven. The Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs commercial was my first real break, though hardly anyone remembers it now.

I think they discontinued it eventually. Something about it having no redeeming health value whatsoever. But without that job, I wouldn't be here.

What is it anyway? Really sugary cereal?

Allegedly, it was cereal. It tasted like pure sugar dusted with a little cocoa powder. I think I'm still coming down off the sugar high from that shoot.

I can see why it was discontinued. It wouldn't have gone over well with parents wanting their kids to eat healthy.

No kidding. Thankfully I'm an adult now and can pick the stuff I want to endorse myself. Not that I'm really doing commercials anymore. I heard the theater scene here is pretty good.

You couldn't choose the things you were in as a kid? Couldn't you have just told your parents "no"?

Are you kidding? My mother hated the idea of me moving out here, even though I'm an adult! They had a career trajectory all mapped out for me, and they're mad I'm starting to deviate from it.

Ah parental pressures. And what was their plan for you that you have thrown out the window?

Keep taking the gigs that paid well and making every safe career choice. I get that they want me to have an easier time than they did growing up, but it's so boring. My mother said I didn't know what I was getting myself into by moving here.

...which I guess is technically true, but still!

Not that I'm the most knowledgeable person in your field of work, but aren't the better actors the ones that are able to do more versatile roles? Which would mean taking risks?

Yes, exactly! Next time I should have you talk to my mom.

She just wants me to stick with the steady paycheck, I guess. Not do anything that might hurt my marketability.

Yeah... have a twenty something guy talk to your mom... that would go over well...

You could threaten to go completely nuts and become marketable that way. Crazy clothes, crazy social media, botch interviews. That is another way to get noticed and become famous.

Well, if you were single and had good prospects, she'd probably be thrilled and would try to set us up on a date, but that's a whole different thing I'm bitter about.

I hope it doesn't come to that, but I've already decided if I do have a meltdown, I'm going to dress like a flapper and use the royal we with everyone I talk to. You've got to have goals.

And what the hell do you mean by "good prospects?" That is a really subjective term.

Yeah, I did a podcast about different styles I'd wear a little while back and that stuck in my head.

Your guess is as good as mine, that's just the term my mother's used since I was in middle school. She actually told me marriage is a tool for a successful career. We... don't agree on a lot of stuff.

I mean, vintage is in style (I have sisters, don't judge).

Just the opposite, she grew up poor. That's probably why she worries so much about me, she doesn't want to see me struggle. She worries way too much.

And she thinks a dude will solve what ever problems she thinks you have? Really? Does she have no faith in you being able to take care of yourself?

[Oh, that question is an easy one.]

None whatsoever. She hired a chaperone to follow me everywhere my first season on the show. Because, you know, Hollywood is evil and I'm perpetually twelve years old in her eyes.
