retrospec | (no subject)

I'll keep this short and to the point to give you guys time to strategize, catch up, all of that.

Congrats on your Magatus missions. Looks like everything's been cleared out as best as we can, but the region's been evacuated thanks to a couple of factors.

The new problem is we just added a bunch of people to city limits.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

Bad news: need some people out in Pesgare to do some deepdiving and recovery. It doesn't look like there's anything out there that'll kill you, but I need something from down there to stabilize Recollé itself.

Good news: got the subway working. Did you know it was just about coding? That's a little crazy to me and okay, I might have found out on accident, but…whatever was blocking exits from the city was just a false creation.

It means getting out of here and checking out the progress outside. The trains will be ready for departure in about a week, I'll get some maps drawn up and everything. I could really use some of you on location scouting.

Finally…who knows about machinery? We've got a problem we should probably look into, but keeping track of that eye's a huge pain in the ass.

IDK, there was this real crimes tv special last week. Pretty grisly stuff.

There's a healthy level of suspicious, and then there's the level where it starts interfering with your ability to form relationships with people.

Have you ever watched Contagion? Watch it, and see how much you change how often you wash your hands. Same idea.

I have actually. But eventually you go back to your normal hand washing habits provided you weren't a complete slob in the first place.

An ex girlfriend, an ex best friend, and oh... various people on Retrospec. Most of them not on the network anymore, so I don't have to worry about them seeing this.

Why not? It clearly had a really deep impact on you if it's affecting your ability to trust other people.

Well lets see....

I met her when I was 19, in college. WE dated for 6 years or so until I got the app. I was mostly over a lot of personal issues she waited around for me to deal with. We promised to always be together. I had a ring and everything. She was someone I could trust. But when I got the app, I became the person who couldn't be trusted. I couldn't tell her the truth, and lying to her about what was really going on with my life (Retrospec shit) tore me up. It pushed us apart because eventually she noticed I wasn't acting normal.

After 4 month on the app, we broke up. She left me and took up a job in LA. Then a few months after that my roommate moved out and took a job in New York. Anyone I was close to before the app left me in less than a year. I was homeless (I couldn't make rent) and I ended up bouncing from place to place for a while until I could save up enough money (which part of that came from a bag of wizard money i got from retrospec).

Like... six years. She couldn't wait a bit longer? Probably not. She had waited long enough for me. She deserved better. That is why I didn't feel like I deserved to fight for her anymore. I just... let her go.

Wow. That really sucks. I'm sorry you had to go through all that.

Do you still talk to either of them?

No. For the longest time Recolle couldn't communicate with the outside world. I just never got in the habit.

But now that we can communicate outside the city again, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try to get in touch with at least your best friend?

He's kind of an ex-best friend. Friendships change and evolve...devolve. I have a new best friend. Cumore, he's on the network too.

Well, I'm glad you have someone you're close to again. Are you sure you don't want to contact your ex-bestie at all?

IDK, That would be up to you. It's not like I'm saying be best friends again. Relationships evolve and change.

Then why do you seem to care?

We're friends aren't we? Can't friends be concerned about their friends' other friendships?

But you've never met my ex-best friend or my ex-girlfriend. For all you know, I could be better off without them in my life.

If you feel that way, then don't do it. Stop acting like I'm twisting your arm.
