This means that as with Chocobos all NPCs will insist this is how things have always been and history/movies/etc will back them up. In honor of St. Patrick's Day characters will find a request from Retrospec to upload a picture of themselves to the network in which they are wearing something green. They will find themselves shocked lightly by their device if they try to use it without complying. Rude? A non-triggered memory regain can be earned through participation in this post in honor of Lucy's birthday the holiday with proof of a single thread with at least five comments from your character. If you plan to redeem this, please submit it to our regains page with the explanation of "March freebie". This must be submitted before April to be valid! Regardless of whether or not a character earns the freebie, all characters will find a gold coin with the Retrospec logo on one side and a Chocobo on the other. On the outside edge of the coin they will find "Jim, put a meaningful quote here. - Janet" engraved in a beautiful font. The Chocobo will morph into a horse should your character obtain the memory regain from the event; it will stay a Chocobo if your character does not obtain the memory regain. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. "I think, therefore I am" only implies that the speaker exists. It says nothing about the speaker's mental state.

Consider the philosophical riddle: How do you know that the world did not simply come into being last Thursday? You have memories from before then, but there is nothing that proves that these memories were not, like the history of the world, likewise fabricated.

For that matter, Descartes also arrived at another problem: The certainty of one's surroundings. Cogito, ergo sum. I think, therefore I am. But I do not know that you are. You could be a construct talking to me. I could be a figment of your imagination.

From a philosophical standpoint, 'truth' is difficult to establish.

Yes, now I remember. You are very well read, Naoto. I don't really know if there is anything we can really be certain of, though I think if we are to get through the day, we need to do something to keep fairly stable. If we don't assume certain things, we could easily be lost in the confusion forever.

There really are no easy answers to this question, are there?

I also suspect that, just as there are not going to be any easy answers, there are also not going to be answers that we entirely like, Naoto. But, I imagine that's almost a given at this point. After the upheaval already experienced, after all.

It makes me want to do something to take my mind off of it. Otherwise, it seems only to drive me to distraction.
