What's up, users! We've mostly fixed the technical problems we were having earlier (unless Danny missed something again) but you might want to wear green. Also, I'm supposed to make a vague and mysterious informational post here but that sounded boring so I made a video presentation instead!

Cheers!

As of this post all apples, oranges, lemons, and limes have been replaced in-universe as the silly dancing fruits shown above. This means that as with Chocobos all NPCs will insist this is how things have always been and history/movies/etc will back them up.

In honor of St. Patrick's Day characters will find a request from Retrospec to upload a picture of themselves to the network in which they are wearing something green. They will find themselves shocked lightly by their device if they try to use it without complying. Rude?

A non-triggered memory regain can be earned through participation in this post in honor of Lucy's birthday the holiday with proof of a single thread with at least five comments from your character. If you plan to redeem this, please submit it to our regains page with the explanation of "March freebie". This must be submitted before April to be valid! Regardless of whether or not a character earns the freebie, all characters will find a gold coin with the Retrospec logo on one side and a Chocobo on the other. On the outside edge of the coin they will find "Jim, put a meaningful quote here. - Janet" engraved in a beautiful font. The Chocobo will morph into a horse should your character obtain the memory regain from the event; it will stay a Chocobo if your character does not obtain the memory regain.

Please see our OOC information post HERE for some information and reminders - you can direct any questions about this post there!

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently.

I think we all have those nightmares now.

But most people seem fairly weirded out by the fruit too.

How do you Americans say it? They're 'missing the forest for the trees'? The details are absurd but it's the notion of an unreliable reality that's horrifying.

I'm not sure that's just an American expression.

But people focus on what they can.
The thought of a world that changes without warning is very...big.
Dealing with the smaller problems makes it feel more manageable.

Seems not.

I can't disagree. No matter how great the problem, the scope of our encounter with it is limited the scope of our own lives.

Doesn't make it any more fun to think about though.

No you're right, it's fascinating.
It's just also kind of terrifying.
And awe inspiring.

Also really aggravating.

Yes?
Let's say we aren't mad, for the sake of argument.
And these people did somehow change every single piece of four different kinds of fruit into these bouncing monstrosities.
In an instant.
All over the world.

Do you have any idea the kind of power that would take?

If I did, I'd be running an incompetent social media company. Or so it appears.

That malleability becomes so much I can only approach it as an irrelevant fact. Should I be awed my limbs move when the world might have been perfectly still? That the universe is a hundred billion light-years across when the whole thing might have been safely tucked away into a nutshell?

If it is awesome it is only because heretofore we assumed these things were impossible. But now we see that it was never the case.

Just because it's possible doesn't mean it's somehow easy.
Or less impressive.

It's weird and awful, sure.
But it's still impressive.

Although I wish they had done something besides fruit.

If it were difficult, why fruit?

Actually, I'm not sure I want to pursue that line of thought.

You mean why not something easier, or harder?
Or more impactful?

I mean, as weird as it is, changing the fruit would touch pretty much everybody's life.
Even if it seems kind of lame.

If the method is both difficult and fairly divorced from the details of the result I would think you would use it to make meaningful changes, not something that amounts to announcing 'look what I can do'.

Maybe they are making meaningful changes but we can't tell.

And this is just their way of blowing off steam.
