Good afternoon. For those who don't know me, my name is Cleo Ritter, and I am a rather recent addition to this Retrospec community. I have some questions, to those of you who have received the strange visions after being made a part of this. Specifically, if you're willing, I'd like to hear about those visions. I thought if we collaborate and make a list of what kinds of visions each person receives, we might be able to find a pattern as to who gets what, and perhaps piece together a more complete understanding of what is going on here. Thank you in advance for being willing to share this, and I hope this will prove useful.

Somewhat. It is difficult to describe. I am not sure how well I could do so over text at all.

i understand. there are still some aspects to it that i can't explain, myself.

hopefully it will clear up in the future without forcing us to deal with some past-life trauma.

I am still not convinced they are truly 'past lives'. Retrospec has shown itself to be capable of a great many bizarre changes, including twisting our perceptions. It's possible it's simply making these up, tailored to us. And the one my visions come from seems to not be human, so I cannot imagine it is a 'past life' in any way.

the idea of reincarnation in hinduism and buddhism both involve the possibility of being born as something not human based on karma, you know. devils, animals, demi-gods.

but i can't blame you for not believing it. they are clearly capable of changing how we perceive things, and there's no real proof that any of it is real. i still don't know what to think.

Is that so? I've never done much research on those. Regardless, I don't think those account for something with claws that still uses a sword. The lives we live and the identities we possess are real, and all else is given to us by those who have ulterior motives, unknown goals, and our harm in mind. Even should they turn out to be true, and our past lives, or some other such nonsense, I would still be wary of them.

i have a similar mindset, even if i'm leaning towards the other side. whatever happened in these memories, if that's what they are, it doesn't change who we are now. we're going to need to stay in the present if we want to stay sane.

That's why I'm sticking to calling them 'visions'. Memories makes it sound too definite.

it's also a more pleasant word than "hallucinations." vision makes it sound more like they might mean something, rather than being the result of a mass drugging or mental illness.

That's right. Although I find myself cautious of whatever meaning they may have. Retrospec will be made to give us the answers eventually, I suppose.

presumably if they're going to keep giving us visions and things, they're going to eventually be faced with a large number of aggravated that they've possibly armed themselves.

That sounds uncomfortably like a riot. I hope it doesn't come to that.

well they've also given us a platform to organize, so probably less like a riot and more of an infiltration.

i suppose that works fine if you don't actually plan to take whatever strange control they have away from them.

I fully intend to do so. But I can hardly do that without knowing anything about them.

that is the main problem right now, isn't it.

but again, they are giving us a platform to compare notes. it's only a matter of time before we find out enough to push back.

Though it would be wiser to compare notes away from the platform our enemies have given us.

I take your point. It would be nice if we knew the limits of their surveillance.

i'd say at least they can't read our minds, but i'm sure you can see the reason why i'm not confident in saying that.

still, i suppose if there have been successful "infiltrations" into places they're trying to keep us out of, having that surveillance doesn't mean they can actually stop us.

Not only are they able to read our minds, they are able to insert fantastical visions into our minds. It becomes difficult to trust any findings made if I think too hard about it. But if they are able to control everything we see and hear, and even everything we remember, then it is a lost battle from the start. So I must assume they can't control everything.

it's certainly better to assume that than succumb to despair, isn't it. [At least it gives them the illusion of having some sort of control, even if it's not real.]

Yes. We would never uncover answers that way. Although, perhaps it would stymie whatever game Retrospec is playing.
