Just a couple of things.

-I'm turning 25 on Monday and it seems like the kind of thing you should do something for. I was going to invite people to the pool until some things happened, but now I don't want to, so. I'm going to be at the Inkwell and will accept all birthday congratulations, gifts, and complaints about how grey water is super weird.

Anyone can come, it's not like I run the bar. Unless you're that guy that threatened me, you have to stay at least ten feet away from me at all times.

[Water being grey now is not actually why the pool party is being called off, but it makes an excellent excuse.]

-Does anyone have any advice about explaining your sudden changes in behavior to people who know you really well but don't know what's going on with Retrospec? I can't not talk to my parents.

...I'm not describing something quite on the level of...that, but something approximately as difficult to explain in any reasonable manner.

And you just went 'yeah okay that sounds reasonable'? That'd be pretty worrying in hindsight. You can't tell what else is horribly wrong that you're just accepting as normal.

So there's a chance that your parents will find something strange about what you're saying, but it's entirely likely that it will be accepted in some way as how things have always been.

If I turn into a blob and my mother asks me how I've been taking care of my tentacles, I may actually die.

I'd say I'm looking forward to it, but that's slightly morbid, even as I usually go.

I'd personally rather not become a tentacle monster. You can be one if you want? I won't stop you.

I can't say it's anything I would willingly prefer, either, as interesting though the prospect is.

You could get cast in a lot of movies. It'd help them save on their special effects budget.
