Hello Users, For those of you who are new: Welcome to Retrospec™, the last social media network you will ever need. You are one of the few selected to test this exciting new platform based on our cutting-edge algorithms. Membership is not currently open to the public. However, we hope you will come to see how useful Retrospec™ is, given time. We have for your use a variety of features such as text, voice, video, and image posts. This should not, of course, have any impact on your usage of Retrospec™. The first milestone for the second of the colors lost has been met, and accordingly we have diverted resources to fix what could be fixed. R&D has alerted me that a bigger loss may occur in the near future, and I would advise you to be careful, though I am afraid neither they nor I can be much more detailed than that. Finally, I would like to extend congratulations to those of you who have now reached your sixth month. We hope you will continue to accept our assistance in these trying times. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Any new characters will find that the first photo they upload is locked as their profile picture for the rest of the month. Katherine Lutece That's the one part I have the least amount of trouble believing. It's simple enough to be registered as a legitimate business; depending on which model they follow it may be as simple as sending in a piece of paperwork and a one-time fee.

Katherine Lutece Unfortunately, I think we're already way beyond that. After all, horses were exchanged for chocobos and we were none the wiser... when I was young I rode regularly. You wouldn't think that I'd have forgotten all those years of lessons, but for some reason I did. Until I was added to this network in May, I would have told you it was chocobos I'd been showing my entire life.

Katherine Lutece You aren't the only one. What's causing these losses in the first place? We all assumed Retrospec, but if that's the case, why are they allowing their R&D team to keep doing whatever it is that started it?
Katherine Lutece If we're talking a bigger loss than that of two entire colors... what's next, entire senses? Maybe we should all start brushing up on sign language, just in case.

Katherine Lutece I'm afraid it's my cousin who's the physicist, Mr. Miller, not me. Can you elaborate on what you mean?

[Rosalind would probably understand entirely, but this is flying right over her head at the moment. External versus internal changes--does he mean changes that affect the world and changes that affect them personally? Or...?]

Katherine Lutece Thank you, that explanation makes a lot more sense. I'm reasonably sure I pointed out something similar about grass last month.
Katherine Lutece So with this logic, something like remembering horses instead of chocobos would be an internal change, but dancing fruit would be an external change, right?
Katherine Lutece I do have another question, though. You've mentioned "cracks in the world" a couple times now. Can you explain what you mean by that? Classing it as external would mean that you've seen literal "cracks" in this world, but I haven't seen anything like that.

Katherine Lutece No legal ones, at any rate. Although we've got a number of law enforcement officers and at least two licensed lawyers on this network that I'm aware of (though neither are actively practicing), we still would need a judge even capable of seeing Retrospec in order to think about legal action.
Katherine Lutece When Retrospec first installed itself on your phone, did you try asking anybody else about it? If you did, you might have noticed that somehow, people that don't have access to it can't see it.
Katherine Lutece I mentioned my father before. He's a lawyer, and so I was asking him about invasion of privacy when we started receiving surveillance footage of ourselves from someone working there... but when I handed him my phone to look at the photo, the app crashed and deleted itself from my phone. When I took it back, it had reinstalled and functioned normally again.
Katherine Lutece It's almost like it somehow knows who's handling it, and changes in response.
Katherine Lutece The law is ill-equipped to deal with such an intelligent code, as much as I hate to admit it.

Katherine Lutece I've been studying law for years now. If there were any way we could bring Retrospec to the courtroom, I'm certain someone would have done so by now.
Katherine Lutece And yes, it's just as frustrating as you'd imagine. I can't say I like a world where there's no way to hold somebody accountable for their crimes!
Katherine Lutece I'm not the sort of person to work outside of the law and, as it is, it seems as though that's the only option people have for learning anything.

Katherine Lutece Optimistically, that's what I hope will happen. However, there are users that have been here since February that still don't have any idea of what's going on.
Katherine Lutece A part of me thinks we should just ignore it all for the time being, until there's enough information to start sorting through... but if we do that, aren't we playing right into their hands and doing what they want?
Katherine Lutece There's also the question of whether or not what they're doing is actually malignant, though I suppose I can only pose that question because my "memories" haven't been too extreme yet.
