01 | the answers agency presents...
Elizabeth Velveteen and Goro Akechi of the newly-formed The Answers Agency would like to announce that, after multiple days of investigation, we have found that a member of Retrospec's userbase is actually an incredibly kind person.
Silver Bells, known on the app as Gintaro Suzukaze, has done wonderful things such as:
* sprayed water on people on a very hot day
* helped newcomers adjust to retrospec
* had his nails painted a bright assortment of colors that was sure to clash with his hair to help out with someone’s bingo square
* promo’d his brother for bingo and because he obviously loves him
* rescues cats from trees on a biweekly basis
* befriends friendless losers
* lends his aid without asking for anything in return
(citation for at least two of these)
We thank you for reading and ask that you spread the good word about Silver, and perhaps share stories of your own of his kindness!
also, i (The Answers Agency president, Elizabeth) will be holding a show everyone is free to come to in Recollé Square on the 15th, at 5pm. you’ll have to bring your own snacks, but other refreshments will be provided.
additionally, those with a serious interest in becoming a detective or making their way in the investigative world should contact either myself or Akechi for more information about The Answers Agency!
we will also take cases, big or small, missing pets or stolen items, so feel free to contact about that as well.
[ ooc: replies will come from both Elizabeth and Goro (
twostringsonebow)! ...and Silver, probably, damage control at its finest. ]

Let's see. All stars, including our sun, have a finite lifespan -- but in comparison to theirs, we're a little like a single dot of ink on the beginning letter of a word in the prologue of a book.
When a star's lifespan comes to a close, it does one of a few things depending on it's size; our own Sun will most likely do the first, which is collapse in on itself and condense into a small white dwarf, the outer shell exploding outward to become a nebula. They're very pretty. However, nearly everything across the solar system will be breezed over by unimaginable heat, burning through atmospheres and leaving behind husks... not to mention everything would be pushed out of orbit.
The second, and far more interesting to many, is the supernova. These come from stars that are much more massive than the Sun, and once they die their cores become neutron stars, which are the densest stars known to mankind, or black holes, which consume all light, heat, and energy within their near-invisible tendrils. The more memorable part of it is the explosion itself, which is... I suppose it's similar to a firework.
[Yes, that sounds right. Hm.]
Of course, the stars we see are often already dead, their light only just reaching us. In a way, when we witness things like that, we're seeing into the past.

Don't bring time into a perfectly good explanation of exploding stars.

That said, I'm curious as to why not.

Actually, what do you know about alternate timelines?

but that aside, mostly that any choice you make in a given day can change the outcome of the future, no matter how small. A lot of things are just... inconsequential, really, like trying something new and finding out if you like it or not versus never knowing, but bigger decisions create bigger paradoxes.
If they're real, then there's an infinite number of possible existences that stem from every different choice that you've made, that others have made for you, and trying to imagine the variables too much can cause a serious headache.
While I very mcuh enjoy showing off my knowledge of different things I've learned before bed, can't you just look it up yourself?
Or if this is the only way you're learning anything, perhaps we could do it over lunch instead?
[this isn't a date it's a tutoring session]

[...Look, he could say something about how he learns plenty, but why do that when he can get a free meal.]

Are you able to split the difference?
no subject
Although you did say you were taking me on a romantic date to Target.

But you don't kiss for social ones. Just romantic. Which this will not be.
no subject
but for your crush.......
would you be able to kiss them at the end of a date?
no subject
I would like to think so. Provided it went well.
no subject
what would you define as a date that "went well"?
no subject
... If we both enjoyed it, I suppose.
That's rather vague, I realize, but... one that would leave both of us wanting a second. You can generally tell if a date is going well by how the other person reacts, how much they talk to you or at least by what they say.
Essentially, they look like they're having fun and hopefully you are as well.
and sometimes that might not be enough for a kiss and they're very awkward when they tell you goodnight and you walk home wishing you were dead

you sound as though you have personal experience.
