hi! i hope everyone is having a great day so far! and if not i hope it gets better!
i have a couple questions or something to advertise i guess?
um!!

one is does anyone have any (hallucino)memories of androids or being an android or a cyborg or something like that? or could someone tell me the difference between the two because i'm not sure i know... (i'm sorry!)

two is what's your favorite flower? now that we have some blue and green back it's not as depressing to work at a flower shop!

Pretty much! Don't feel bad about mixing them up, a lot of science fiction terms are confusing and people don't explain them properly, I have to look up some terms and I'm writing a science fiction novel right now. I'd totally wear a peach blossom flower crown, do you have those for sale?

hehe i'll admit that i usually go to romance or fantasy when i read something so science fiction is something i haven't looked into a lot

I have a couple short stories in a couple magazines, but this is the first novel I've written. I'd love to have one! Flower crowns are super cute, even if I don't think I'd wear it to work...

The novel I'm working on is about a guy whose planet is destroyed, so he has to go live in a completely different culture with different values. It's centering on the theme of moral relativism, with space pirates. The short stories have been about a bunch of different stuff - magazines usually have themes for their contests, so you can't just write whatever. Let me know when my crown is done!

wow! i feel like that has to be equally fun and thoughtful! on one hand pirates! on the other hand culture shock! that's going to be really fascinating!

that's still amazing? that you could write to a certain theme and it's still good enough to be published!
i always try to but sometimes i don't feel like i put out my best work if i'm told what to draw

it'll be done in a couple hours! i'm working on it right now but i have to fit it around all my other work duties

You think so? I'm going to do my best! People who intentionally write things that are 'profound' but aren't any fun to read kind of lose sight of what's important in a novel. If you just want to talk about philosophy, go write an essay or something! I like writing to my own strengths too, but sometimes you have to suck it up and work with the theme you're given. Getting published, even if it's just a short bit in a magazine, helps you when it's time to convince a publisher to pick up your novel. No rush! Just send me a message so I know when to stop by.

i do think so! the best kind of writing is the stuff that's both fun and meaningful!
if it's a story that'll make me feel a whole rainbow of emotions and also think that's what makes the story alive
if it's something that'll inspire me to draw that's even better

i'm working hard to improve but i've been happy with my progress lately

Not at all! You should be proud of your improvement. Nobody knows how much better you've gotten as well as you do!

i don't know how much that's true because i can't always see the mistakes i make right away
but i guess that's why they say hindsight is 20/20 even if that's not how that saying is usually used!

If you say your mistakes immediately, you'd fix all of them, or at least that's how it is with my writing.

you're the type that edits as you go? that's impressive!
i know some people write everything first and then edit once it's all done
i do something in between with my drawings but ctrl+z is the best shortcut ever created for a digital artist

I don't usually, editing as you go is a good way to not get anything finished. But I definitely edit before anything I write sees the light of day. What I'm saying is, if you knew they were mistakes right away, you'd fix them before finishing the piece. Getting better is as much about learning how not to do things that make your picture/story worse as it is about how to do things that make it better. If that makes any sense.

yeah that makes sense!
when your technique and craft improves that helps you make less mistakes because you're already learned from your past mistakes and you know to look out for them!

do you get anyone to look over your work too?
sometimes i send a picture to a friend to see if anything looks odd to them

I don't have a dedicated editor, but I get somebody to proofread my stuff before I send it in anywhere. There's nothing like a second pair of eyes looking at your work. When you've written a passage you know what you meant to put in there, and so if you left out a word your brain will fill it in for you.

ooh yes that's happened to me a lot when i do essays for the school
it's the worst
and what you write is even more important than that!

It's definitely the worst. But it's way easier to go back and change a passage when you've finished the whole story than it is to fix lines when you've already done your coloring and shading, so I don't envy you either.
