Two things related to this application, so I would prefer if this information wasn't spread to outsiders: 1. Has anyone been the recipient of memory-within-memories? I don't want to think that I'm the only person, and frankly, getting memories of one life is stressful enough without having one in an even more distant past to regain memories of. 2. I'm looking to hire someone with experience in computer graphics, software and animation for a short term project. And before you ask, yes, it's related to Retrospec. As an addendum, if you were at the Convention in July, my staff should have contacted you with reimbursement by now. If not, please let me know and I'll look into it. I'm not paying this out of my own pocket, but rather, Retrospec seemed fit to return me monetary compensation for July's damages so thank them, not me.

I'd even hazard to say an ancient civilisation just based on contextual clues.

I see... in other words, you have two sets of memories you've been regaining: one belonging to someone from modern times and the other belonging to someone from the ancient past. Is that right?

yes, that's correct.

and assuming what we've learned so far is valid, they're not memories of two separate people, they're both of myself at two different points in time, which is enough of a headache on its own.

What?! But... that shouldn't be possible, even for Retrospec. If the person in your memories was alive that long ago, then they would have been several centuries dead by the time modern civilization rolled around.

You sure that they weren't just a cosplayer instead? Or a time traveler or something? Maybe they were near-immortal...

Reincarnation is a possible explanation. It's been tossed around enough times on here for it to be counted as something worth pursuing, although I'd admittedly be more curious as to how some people were regaining memories of two lives and others only one.

Or you know what, I'll take the time travel theory too.

An interesting theory, Mr. Kaiba... and one I might have been willing to believe had you not brought up its fatal flaw, having memories from drastically different periods of world history myself. Unfortunately, it's just like you said: it doesn't deal with the headache of who could have multiple lives nearly as well as my suggestions do.

That being said, the only way to know for sure which of our theories is right will probably depend on the sorts of abilities people like us gain back.

In other words, either you or I would have to gain the power to travel through time (or something like that) before we have our answer... unless, of course, Retrospec decides to finally come clean first, though I seriously doubt that will ever happen.

So basically, you've gotten a memory of your other self remembering something? Like a repressed memory or is it more similar to what we're experiencing?

More specifically, I think it could be more accurately called a vision of sorts.

My other self was a third party spectator to another memory, I think. I would actually outright call it a vision if not for the fact that it featured elements from several of my other memories.

That sounds rather convoluted. So the memory that your other self witnessed belonged to a third person. Can you tell if it was intentional for him to see the memory or was it accidental? Did the third person know he was watching?

I'm not surprised that it's convoluted as hell, since when has Retrospec made things easy.

Yes, and intentional.

The easiest way I can break it down is - I'm seeing Person A's memories, and in this particular instance, that memory is him seeing a vision of Person B, but contextual clues give me the impression that Person B is the same as Person A, just at a distant point in the past. Past life, and all that nonsense.

So essentially you're seeing a past life of a past life, provided you accept the position Person A is a past life of yours in the first place. Bad enough when this stuff was just one tier, throwing in two tiers is just being spiteful.

I would... find it more believable, however, if the tiers seemed to be linked in some way because the backdrop of the second memory are a completely different time and geographical location, so your guess is as good as mine as to whether it actually is a past life or if I'm just hallucinating the whole damn thing.

I can't say with all certainty that I saw me, but someone definitely related to me, I can say with all certainty because ai've regained other memories that incorporate several things I've seen in this one, too.

I'm not sure if it's memories within memories but I do have memories that might be from modern times as well as memories set a century ago.
