It's because of the natives. There was a walking trail for them way back when the city was erected and they build over it, but those guys are still walking it, night for night for night! There's no official statements on it but it's an open secret that you can see them if you wait between 2 and 4 am on days that have been foggy or with a particularly clear, starry night. But that's not the best part of it!

What's the best part then?

Those ghosts are still wander the trail they took back then. But a lot of time has passed and earth and stuff has piled over it until they finally built that part of the city and-- you get it. Long story short, they're walking knee-deep through the concrete of the street.

Ah!
That sounds really uncomfortable for them.

I really laughed when I first heard it. I mean, ghosts wading through the streets is supposed to be creepy but you can't help but feel bad for them, right? Even though their dedication sounds pretty manly! Now it's your turn to come up with a story!

Okay!

Have you heard of the story of Miss Robin Louve? She had an apartment in Maple Valley and lived alone there.
She was a very lonely woman, even though she was really young. Robin was only in her early twenties And she tried very hard to keep in touch with her college classmates, but after every time she invited them over to her apartment at night, they just stopped talking to her.
It didn't seem unnatural though. When you no longer have to see someone because of school or work, drifting away from them happens, so she just thought that maybe there was something wrong with how she was that made people not want to stay friends with her. She never considered there might be more.
But she was still so lonely. Robin decided to buy a cat, in order to have someone around. And it was fine at first. Until the cat started scratching at the front door.
He did it constantly, but always at the same time, at 9:15 PM on the dot and it always went on for a total of three minutes before the cat stopped and walked away as if nothing had happened.
This alarmed Robin, who knew absolutely nothing of cats since this was her first pet. She looked it up on the internet, and then bought him a scratching post that he loved. He used it all the time during the day.
And yet, still, at 9:15 every night, he would go back to the door and start again. Robin finally gave up and decided that she had to get rid of the cat because she couldn't deal with it anymore.
She didn't check the door after the scratching had started the previous night, instead opting to go straight to bed. So the next morning when Robin woke up, she saw a giant hole in the door... like the cat just scratched right through it. And he was gone.
It was strange. Even though the scratching was constant, they didn't seem deep enough to do this. But since she was considering getting rid of the cat anyway, she guessed it was fine.

Do you wonder what happened next?

Something scratched on her bed?

Close! The scratching kept happening, even without the cat.
The scratching came inside after the hole was made. It was always still at the same time, 9:15, but it was in different places.
The fridge. The dining room table. The bathroom door.
Close and closer to her bedroom, always at 9:15, and always for those three minutes.
Robin couldn't take it anymore, but she also couldn't afford to move out. So she started leaving the house at that time so she wouldn't be around when the noise happened.
And it worked! And even better, she met people and became friends with them. Suddenly, Robin wasn't all alone anymore.
She invited them over to her place one night. They had a good time, but then suddenly... there was scratching started, this time in a kitchen cabinet. She looked at the time. It said 8:15.
This was the first time it started at a different time, but then she realized that since she hadn't been home the last few nights, she had no way of really knowing if this was the first time or not.
Her friends wanted to check it out, but she asked them not to. Instead she waited the three minutes... and then it stopped.
One of her friends stood up and walked to the cabinet to check it out. Robin urged him not to open it, but he did anyway. Inside, there was nothing.
Her friends left, thinking that it was probably just a mouse or something. Robin let herself believe that too, and that it was only a coincidence.
The next day, she asked them to hang out again. None of her friends responded to her. She tried calling. Each time it went straight to voicemail.
Finally, one of them replied. It was the friend who had opened the cabinet. His text was a short reply that only said, "They want you alone." Then he blocked her.
Robin was angry now. So she stayed inside that night, and when the scratching started, again at 8:15, she thought she'd be ready for it. But it was at her bedroom door this time.
She opened it and... there was her cat. She couldn't believe it. Was it her cat doing the scratching since his disappearance? How did he get inside the cabinet? How didn't she notice the cat was back?
Her anger was still there. This cat ruined her chance at having friends. She picked him up, and walked to the window, opening it. She held the cat at the window, ready to throw him... and the scratching started again.
It was getting closer to her. And closer. The scratching got louder and louder, moving towards her and the cat, and suddenly it was scratching her.
Claw marks appeared on her legs and then up her arms. The cat leaped from her arms and ran away, but the scratching kept happening again and again and again
And again and
Again
Robin screamed, before leaping out of the window. She hit the pavement.

And inside the apartment sat the cat. He wasn't alone. They never were.
If you're in need of a place to move into, that apartment is open for rental!

Huh. That was.... Did she forget to switch to daylight saving time? That was a very good story, but it sort of got over the top at the end. Like, was the cat with the scratcher? Did it just hop over to all her potential friends and told them to not contact her again? How did the cat come and go and come if it was still a normal cat? I'm confused about that. But you're way better at delivering a story than me! I got some serious chills reading your posts!

The full thing is longer than just that, so that was the very condensed version, I suppose.

This kind of thing is a lot more fun in person with the right kind of atmosphere though.

What's the name of the story? And I agree! It's a lot more fun if you're in a darkened room and when you can see the gestures and faces of the others!

And exactly. You can tell exactly when to say each part depending on their reaction. It makes up a whole part of the fun.

Sounds like Miss Love - that should be easy to remember! Yep! Are you going to host a story telling party on halloween? I heard about people wanting to go out trick or treating even with the fog around, but a story night like they did in ancient times could be really fun and creepy too!

That sounds like a good idea. I'm honestly not sure what I'll be doing on Halloween. I haven't really gotten invited to anything, so I was probably just going to end up staying home for any trick or treaters.

A friend of mine wants to go trick or treating and sentenced me to making her some treats, but I'm not sure I'm gonna go along with it. Going out in this fog on Halloween is just asking for something weird to happen.

It does seem dangerous, doesn't it? I wouldn't be surprised if something big happened.
But a lot of people are probably going to go out anyway... it makes me worried.

Yeeeaaaahhhh.... We probably better start organizing search & rescue teams beforehand. I mean I'd totally volunteer and go myself, but the stuff from my memories and nightmares is something real and I DON'T wanna see what the fog can do with some what I have.
