hey. first matter of business is that you won't be getting items in the mail any longer. i'll send you tickets if i get something and you can ignore it if you want or pick it up from the mailbox. it's your choice. if you ignore it whatever it is stays in storage. the original thought was that you would like your things back, but since that isn't always the case this seems like the easiest way to avoid problems.

i'll be upfront and say that you shouldn't try to put anything in the mailbox that doesn't go there. you can put in items registered in our system but anything else will trigger the failsafes. while these failsafes aren't lethal or anything, they're designed to be about as much of a pain as it would be for me to sort out that kind of thing. so that's your warning to maybe avoid triggering them?

please do not attempt to destroy the mailbox. it took me a while to set up. it's over by the building. you'll recognize it because it is blue. instructions on how to use it will come with any tickets i mail out. if you have an item you want stored which is in our systems, go over and put it in. if you want one unstored, it'll give it back. easy as pie. no one else can pull your stuff or store it; it's locked to specific users with specific items.

by the way, this isn't going to be working fully until the third. i'll be sending out tickets anyway though, so just keep tabs on them.

can't do anything about physical changes without knocking your souls out of alignment, which is technician work anyway, and also would kind of kill you. joanne will address that in a second.

Hello! Like Maurice said, the physical changes are a result of your souls being as they are! What the mind forgets, the soul remembers. As long as you're you, you will become more "you" physically. It's a little like an echo coming back? I'm trying to be understandable, but the actual explanation is way more technical, sorry! That said, the only way to "stop" that kind of thing would be to let your soul dissipate, which is possible but 1) would kill you! and 2) would definitely be a thing I don't want to do because of point 1 and 3) is entirely against the company directives anyway. Maurice doesn't think saying this will help much, but I don't see any reason to not! Well, actually what he said was that people always need a target and he doesn't mind us being one, but he's a gloomy dork so he doesn't get a say. My great-grandmother liked people who were honest, not people who sighed and didn't bother to say things!!

Also, I did try to explain unreality effects earlier when I spoke to some of you, but I don't think I was as clear as I could have been. At least, I'm not sure how to say things clearly and still be allowed to say them, but! There is something that causes unreality on the whole that I can't really say much about. But it was very connected to what destroyed all those poor worlds. We can't do much about that, but sometimes we can snag a few souls from those places, so we do, because we can. Not everyone liked that, you know, but what's the point of saving only yourself from the dark? Anyway, they had that argument way before I was ever born, but even if they'd had it when I was alive, this would definitely be my answer.

We do manage to stabilize things sometimes. I'm afraid I need to let you know that some of it we're going to have to let go. The changes might be a little confusing, but it shouldn't be dangerous. We're going to be moving some resources into better defenses against that kind of huge storm. Please don't worry too much if some things move around or shrink! It's a lot to maintain, you know?

I'm sorry that we can't be more exact. This month shouldn't be more than residual effects from what we're doing, though. So it won't be any uncontrolled unreality. Mostly! For the record, we don't really control what those effects are! I can't really address everyone but I know that came up a lot last time?

As of this post, clothing and personal items have now regained the color blue! This includes all items your character had in their AU plus any regains your character has obtained. However, this does not include physical features.

As a reminder, this month's freebie regain can be earned with one thread on this post with five consecutive comments from you with a new character. We define "new character" as any of the incoming new characters from the application round regardless of TDM tags or any in-game character who your character has not threaded with. Once you have those five comments you may turn in the regain request as usual with "November Freebie" as the explanation (and the thread link).

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently.

because i have perfect health.
more pertinently, her reflection was quite clear in the fountain she was looking at...
i've also received a book i know to be hers, as there is no other like it anywhere else, as far as i know.

The book is... a journal? If it really is unique.

So... A code. I tried making one up when I was little. It's hard keeping secrets, otherwise.

it is, isn't it? but making a code that's both easy to remember yet hard for those oblivious to it to decipher is quite difficult, especially at younger ages.

This is the code I used. It says, "Hi. My name is Arisato."

[ ...it takes her a bit, but she can see where it all lines up. ]

that's actually quite impressive. it's equally impressive that you recall it as well!
do you still use it?

[personal profile] compendiem 2017-11-02 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
It uses empty space, so it's hard to forget. I don't really have a reason to use it anymore, though. Don't have anybody to write letters to longhand.

[ ...it's too personal to ask someone who they wrote to before, and it really doesn't matter if he's maybe-probably related to Minako, whom she's friends with... ]

i see. did you enjoy writing letters? i prefer email, but i can't deny there's something sweet about the personal touches one can give their stationary and the like.

[personal profile] compendiem 2017-11-02 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
It was a long time ago. I think I liked the permanence of it. You can't backspace ink, and you can tell when somebody uses correction fluid. Receiving a letter in the mail is also something to look forward to. Makes it worth waking up in the morning to face another day.

it must have been nice to have someone to correspond with.
i had a rotating address, you could say, and so i believe the only time i've truly done anything like that would be sending cards for special occasions, or having a penpal (rather, trading letters between schools) when i was much, much younger one semester.

[personal profile] compendiem 2017-11-02 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
It was. I stopped, eventually, but then emailing became popular. Your "address" goes with you, no matter where you go, so I appreciated that too.

precisely. after email was... texting, i suppose? instant messaging? even quicker and easier, especially if one wishes to spam those they consider friends with cute cat pictures.

miau

do you like cats? i have quite a few friends and acquaintances who do, and i'm fond of them, though i have a dog... who is the very best dog in the entire world.

[ sorry, Koro-chan, nothing beats her son Potato. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2017-11-02 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
What a pretty cat. I never realized how striking blue can be... I like both dogs and cats. Most animals, really. But I mostly work with dogs.

nor did i, but this is one of my favorite cat photos... it reminds me of a friend of mine. if he weren't an african grey parrot, i think a himalayan such as this would suit him well.
it must be wonderful to work with animals though. i'm allergic to cats, though i've been attempting to get over that, especially as, ah
well
both of my roommates now have cats...
one was less planned the other, but nonetheless...
regardless, what sort of work do you do?

[personal profile] compendiem 2017-11-02 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Veterinarian care. The clinic in Enprise. Cat allergies must be tough if you're allergic... There are semi-hypoallergenic cats which you might tolerate better. Other than that, daily HEPA vacuuming and cat baths.

[personal profile] elevelvetor 2017-11-02 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
perhaps we'll be seeing each other in person soon, in that case. i believe Potato is due for a check-up... and thank you for the tips.
i appreciate them, truly. i'd rather not have to take allergy medicine simply to live in my own place, after all.

[personal profile] compendiem 2017-11-02 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not good to take medication you don't necessarily need. I'm in the clinic on weekday mornings, if that matches up with your appointment. How is Potato doing?
