Jūbei Nankōbō No... at least not for the specific job I have. The medical care is covered by those with the right degrees, of course, but general care and management of the place don't require them.

Ryoga Hibiki In other words, paperwork and taking care of the animals? I always thought they got volunteers to do a lot of that... but it makes sense that someone has to stay and organize everything.

Jūbei Nankōbō They do a large portion, but there must be some paid workers.
Jūbei Nankōbō Volunteers do not and should not be expected to commit long-term, after all, but the shelter needs some long-term workers. Organisation is also indeed a factor.

Ryoga Hibiki So what do you spend most of your day doing?

Jūbei Nankōbō It varies. I have experience with paperwork so I process many of the adoption requests, as well as managing emails and the like.
Jūbei Nankōbō But some days you'll have a sudden influx of new arrivals, or be asked to rescue some poor abandoned pet while also juggling visitors looking to adopt and signing in a delivery, for example.
Jūbei Nankōbō And even with volunteers, all of us have to help clean at times.

Ryoga Hibiki I see. Do you get cases like on television? For example, hoarders or animals stuck in drains?

Jūbei Nankōbō Not commonly, but it does happen. We had cats arrive from a hoarder a few weeks ago.
