But... I guess there are other ways. Spicy isn't really a taste, people say, and we can always fuss around more with textures instead of flavors to make things more interesting.

You're right. We should still be able to feel heat. Mint, too. Not the flavor, but the sensation should still be the same. I'm sure we can come up with some creative dishes to make this livable until we can get taste back.
