Hello and happy new year! A lot of poll results came in from R&D and we've almost fixed taste all the way. Horses are almost fixed, too. We've been working pretty much non-stop around the holidays to stabilize everything, so I hope this works! Just so you guys know, while we were working on fixing the original problems we received some alerts of residual effects outside of our usual domain. Don't worry though! Remember what I said a while ago? We're still moving more resources around into better defenses to protect the city from huge storms like last summer. We'll be taking care of that really soon and isolating the unknown problem. I wish I could tell you more, but we're all working overtime here to finish the final stages of a big project. No matter what happens you guys should be safe while we finish up, so just stay calm, okay? Don't get too reckless! With any luck, Retrosepc isn't going to be getting ideas.

But then again I'm under the impression that if things get worse, it's because they're actively trying to have something bad happen.

They're either hilariously incompetent or they're actively trying to hurt us and I still don't know which it is. They certainly want us to believe they're our saviors, but I can't see how that's possible when they keep screwing things up.

Maybe it's a case of everyone who was competent is already dead.

They've indicated they've been at this for a long time, possibly generations.

My, that's a bit of a scary thought. Just imagine if you were born into a family that's been working on this for generations! You'd feel like you had no choice but to help, wouldn't you? And then there would be so many people like us who aren't grateful at all...

It almost makes you feel sorry for them, doesn't it? I doubt that's actually the case, though.

Who knows, right? It's all a little much. There's too many unknown variables, especially for a group that claims they're doing this for the good of us all.

I still have a hard time believing anything they tell us, but especially that. I suppose there's not much we can do but wait and see. Maybe eventually we'll learn more about Retrospec.

I'm not entirely optimistic right now; the deck sure seems stacked against us right now.

Especially with their ominous warning that something is bound to go wrong but they promise it won't.

I suppose the only thing we can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. You know, I missed things being normal for several months.

...Well, as normal as things get around here, that is.

It'd be nice if they gave a heads up on what's coming.

You know, something like "so a death star might appear in the sky. Don't worry, though, it won't blow up the city!"

I'm curious why they feel the need to hide it, assuming they have any idea what will happen.

...Then again, if they really are this incompetent, maybe it's just as much of a surprise to them.

Maybe that means that they are all running some sort of weird family business, but that like many second, third generation businesses, the people running them don't know what the hell they're doing.

Not all of them, no, just the ones where they're apparently using technology from bad sci-fi movies to "fix" the world.

To be fair, things have been fairly quiet. Losing taste certainly wasn't appreciated, but in comparison to what happened in August... well, let's just hope that things don't get that bad again.
