It's still not entirely clear to me what any of the Retrospec employees we've met do, so it's possible I'm completely off-base. That would just be giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Agreed. We know so little about the company and how it is structured, which makes it unclear what the different positions truly entail. I wouldn't have expected "Security/Archivist" to have covering announcements as part of its job description, for one.

It seems like the reason she has to do this is because Ms. Wiseman is out sick, but can they really be that short-staffed? And if R&D are the ones who are responsible for predicting things and figuring things out, wouldn't it make sense for someone from that department to speak to us?

(I mean, I know you don't have the answers, but it's just like... what?)

And I presume their argument would be that R&D is too busy working on things to speak to us, hence why we hear things second-hand. Though it isn't a particularly satisfying one.
