Don't bother the techs.

Seriously, don't. I'm not entirely sure what's going on but all I'm getting is that it's the equivalent of being hacked and someone who knows layer theory better than we do is out there screwing things up and tampering with the project.

I don't have a really good update for you guys, but bear with us. Please?

It doesn't matter-- I just don't like it. It's not something that's going to be much use to me in the long run. I'd do it if I have to, and improve what I can, but I don't like being in front of a lot of people.

[BECAUSE HE'S SHY.... although Kotone being good at acting does explain a lot about Mio's uncanny ability to hide things, too.]

And I mean I don't want to be the reason for someone else to suffer like that. Honestly, you and your sister are more alike than you'll admit.

[But that thought gives him pause, as he considers something. They were twins, weren't they? So the chances of the sharing the same memories were high...]

I hope this isn't weird to ask, but... do you remember anything about Mio from your alien world? She must have been friends with you guys too, right?

I'm not trying to insult it! It's just not something that interests me. I don't think people who like it or are good at it are doing anything wrong. I know it takes a lot of skill and practice to do properly. But acting and performing isn't important for me to know for my family's business.

Being forced into a ridiculous outfit you don't like IS suffering. I know that from experience too.

But her statement about Mio takes him by surprise, and for a moment, he doesn't know what to say. Maybe it was the conversation he had with her a few weeks back, at how Mio was so terrified of being thought of as a horrible person, that it hits harder than it should. Didn't she tell her twin sister ANY of this? He knew they weren't close, but this is...]

I'm not taking it back. She may be a pain and has questionable tastes in hobbies, but she's a good person too. You shouldn't say stuff like that about her.

[He's going to drop this other thread of conversation for the time being, since it's what Kotone says about her sister which is really troubling. It's true that Mio barely spoke about her, that they seemed to operate on different wavelengths and that she didn't seem to be talking to her much about Retrospec things... but they were sisters. Twins, even. Yes, Xiaolang was a bit disconnected from his own sisters, too, but that was due to their gap in age and genders. From what he could tell, his siblings were always close, even when they were bickering, so to think these two could have such a big rift...]

I don't know what happened between you two to make things this way, and maybe I don't have any right to speak about a situation I know nothing about. But you two are family, and with everything we're going through with Retrospec, I don't think you should have this between you. I may have a more biased opinion, since I'm more familiar with your sister, but she's not the person you're saying she is. She's not perfect, or even the kindest person I know, but... she is a decent person. She has a lot more going on thanks to all of this than you think.

I'n sure she'd appreciate another person to open up to, even if she doesn't act that way.

[Oh Xiaolang, if you actually knew why she wasn't talking to Kotone about this.......]

you're right.
you have no idea what you're talking about.
you haven't had to live with her and put up with her for almost 18 years.
you haven't been the person she most likes to step all over for that whole time.
you clearly don't even know her.

if she needs someone to listen to her, maybe she should stop treating everyone in her life so poorly.
the only person she has to blame for that is herself.
i don't have to hang out with someone who makes me miserable just because we happen to be related.
i've done that enough for one lifetime.
