I'm not entirely sure what's going on but all I'm getting is that it's the equivalent of being hacked and someone who knows layer theory better than we do is out there screwing things up and tampering with the project. I'd be willing to do it if we found out more information on what, exactly, it is that they're doing.

We don't have much in the way of information on what they're supposed to be saving us from.

they keep saying theyre trying to stabilize things
which is either a lie or theyre just really bad at it
but presumably that means they're supposedly protecting us from someone who wants chaos

now what this mysterious possible enemy of theirs would have to gain from that who knows

My bet is on the latter.
This seems too complicated to just be a case of screwing with people for kicks, but heck if I know how anyone working for Retrospec thinks.

I learned something a while back, a list of names of people who founded Retrospec.
There was a lot of evidence in it of factions and falling outs, and probable assassinations.
Maybe it's as simple as wanting control over all of this, whatever "this" is.

revenge and power are the two oldest motivators i guess
if there really is some second entity itd make sense that theyre cut from the same cloth as retrospec
so for all we know it could be related

Probably a group that splintered from Retrospec itself at some point.

if were lucky theyll take each other out in the struggle
but if were unlucky well be caught in the crossfire

They're probably more likely to hurt a lot of people in the process than they are take each other out.
