retrospec | (no subject)

So here's the thing…

We have a lot of work left to do. Those of you who ventured down below got a taste of what we're looking at and hopefully that means we can make better preparations. I'm working on opening a new portal based on your energy readings and getting it to stabilize itself so you aren't stuck down there longer than you have to be. May take a few days, but I'm hoping to get a map drawn up, too.

How many of you have been out to Magatus? You might wanna compare notes…the influence started spreading even further. It's better to bring everything and everyone out there back to the city where we can put up forcefields and I can monitor from here.

So what am I saying? I need two teams, a rescue team and an exploration team. Take some time to decide, figure out your skills, organize and arm yourselves. Assignments will go out when you're ready, and when I'm ready.

It's not that it gets wonky, it's more... I shouldn't be using it when that happens. It's already a drain on my energy, so it would just make things worse if I was sick. [Not that he wouldn't if, say, Sakura's life was on the line, because he's dumb and reckless like that, but...] It wasn't as if I could focus on that at the time, anyway.

Anyway, I can't say I disagree. Considering one of the other missions we went on wound up revealing Vanderweele's replica staff, we probably had a reason for coming across it... even if it wasn't immediately obvious at the time.

Ah, so when you use your magic it drains you.

Of course. It's like a form of energy, isn't it? So of course it's going to exhaust you when you use too much of it. Isn't that how yours works too?

But he had a staff. At least... I'm hoping he's still without it. We heard a story in Respatrum about how there was a weapon of great power used to split the continent into many pieces, which is why we have the regions, but they destroyed it before it could do greater damage...

Do you remember that vision everyone had in November? With everything else that happened after that, there's no one else it could be except for him.

My magic doesn't drain as I use it.

Wait... a magic staff that split land apart? What the....?

... really? Are you sure you just haven't been using enough of it?

I wish I could explain it better, but there's more questions than answers at this point when it comes to that staff. All I know is that it's powerful enough to destroy our world and reality, and if he has it back with him somehow, we're in a lot of trouble.

Excuse you. You saved your but from caching on fire a short while ago. Be grateful my magic doesn't drain as I use it.

That guy sounds way over powered. I am wondering where that staff even came from.

I wasn't going to catch on fire. [Yes he was, he's just being dumb and stubborn] I didn't mean it like that, though. I meant more that your spells take less magic out of you, despite their effects. I know just using my talismans without the sword doesn't drain me nearly as much.

[Granted, it has a weaker effect, but...]

Your guess is as good as mine, though. If what Zee was saying is true, about the founders being a different sort of race entirely... then they probably had the means and power to make that wherever they originally came from.

... unless you mean the one he might have now, which in theory shouldn't exist.
