I'll keep this short and to the point to give you guys time to strategize, catch up, all of that.

Congrats on your Magatus missions. Looks like everything's been cleared out as best as we can, but the region's been evacuated thanks to a couple of factors.

The new problem is we just added a bunch of people to city limits.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

Bad news: need some people out in Pesgare to do some deepdiving and recovery. It doesn't look like there's anything out there that'll kill you, but I need something from down there to stabilize Recollé itself.

Good news: got the subway working. Did you know it was just about coding? That's a little crazy to me and okay, I might have found out on accident, but…whatever was blocking exits from the city was just a false creation.

It means getting out of here and checking out the progress outside. The trains will be ready for departure in about a week, I'll get some maps drawn up and everything. I could really use some of you on location scouting.

Finally…who knows about machinery? We've got a problem we should probably look into, but keeping track of that eye's a huge pain in the ass.

Discuss, get in touch with me, prepare. You know the drill.

kind of off topic, and sorry if this is a little dark but...

medically speaking... if your heart stops... you die, right?

To my knowledge, yes. That's the average human, though, so augmentations from Retrospec may change things a bit...

What's going on?

I got a memory. It was kind of unsettling.

I was in the hospital and they said my heart had stopped for a few minutes.

And my power was gone.

Ah...

I do believe it's possible for someone to technically "die" like that and come back, though. Medically speaking.

But I'm probably better off outsourcing this to people who know what they're talking about from more than just pop culture osmosis...

I wish I could tell you you won't, but Retrospec isn't that nice. But chances of you dying are slim. Near death experiences, sure. Happens a lot.

If you ever need someone to talk to about crazy memory stuff, I have so many.

There's probably a lot of similar articles out there if you bother to search it up, since it's not as uncommon as you might think.

But yeah, if you woke up in a hospital and someone said that? There's a lot of options there. Since I have no idea if your world has magic or not, which could change circumstances quite a bit.

floret: (walked with the suffering)

un: Jamie Doh

[personal profile] floret 2019-04-03 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
That's true in a general sort of way, but it's a little more complicated than that. It's not like the heart is an on/off switch; it's just that since the heart circulates oxygen throughout the body to keep all the other organs going, you generally can't survive if it's not working. But there are artificial means of maintaining oxygenation and circulation, and even aside from that, the body as a whole doesn't just shut down instantly as soon as the oxygenated blood stops coming... death is a process, and different organs can hold out for different lengths of time. The major limiting factor is the brain, which usually remains "alive" (or at least reversibly "dead") for a few minutes even after total cardiac arrest.

So

I guess

It depends on the types of medical intervention available.
And various other factors.
psykick: (⇒ tired)

[personal profile] psykick 2019-04-03 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
'death is a process' is both kind of morbid, but kind of profound at the same time.

i guess i'm okay with 'it's complicated' being the answer
floret: (i'm resolved to being born)

[personal profile] floret 2019-04-03 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
lol

You know
Medically speaking is one thing. But there's a lot of metaphysical stuff at play with everyone here, right? And with everyone's past lives, and past afterlives. So in reality, it probably has as much to do with the state of of your soul as the state of your body.

Death changes a lot of things. But it's not the end.

Legit talk, I imagine so, but, with lots of magic or powers floating around, there could be someone to sweep in and save you.

I thought my last me died via Tsunami, and recently I just got a memory of someone(who I thought was a major dumbass) using superpowers to save the day basically.

And I don't think I might have died. I know for a fact my heart stopped for a short period of time. I remembered waking up in the hospital and being told it happened.

Not saying you do, it is a stressful topic and I thought maybe a bit of optimisim was needed just incase it was super sensitive.

Isn't your heart stopping a bit, basically the definition of a heart attack?

Maybe a side effect from the fish jamming itself into your chest?
