Greetings, Users. Our system may be experiencing some residual glitches from a recent network malfunction. Our technical team is working on getting these issues under control. Please direct any concerns in the meantime to the HR department at humanresources@retrospec.com. Our staff has furthermore noticed a significant increase in tags and trends for #aprilfools and #pranks. Keep on your toes and be certain to tag your best tricks for Retrospec™! Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Any emails sent to the HR department will be returned with a failure to send notification, and will furthermore automatically be posted to the Retrospec network. Oops?
Characters who have been in game for one month will find they can now change their profile pictures. Glitches will be in effect until the 15th and may include: -Usernames changing to a cat, dog, or bird pun. -The Retrospec application being changed into a neon color + animal theme of some variety. -Notifications going off at random and being unable to be turned off. -Various "special effects" crossing the screens when people comment. -Users having to beat a level of pac-man to access the application, and then being made to beat a new level every hour to keep using the application. -Thomas the Tank Engine memes being sent to users every hour for some reason. -Profile pictures being replaced by pictures of rabbits and easter eggs. -New creepy pasta stories appearing upon log-in, to be forwarded to someone before the app can continue to be used -Parental lock and auto-correct on cursing (i.e. fuck -> duck) -A parade of pixel Chocobos or dancing fruit scrolling across the screen after each comment posted |

Nyardyn Mewzunia This may lead nowhere, of course, but there's no harm in the suggestion for now.
Nyardyn Mewzunia In the meanwhile, I wonder what other manner of odd things will be sent from Retrospec before we get any real answers?
no subject
Hitori Togusa Who knows what's next? I'm afraid to even make a suggestion, because Retrospec will find away to surpass the most ridiculous thing I could come up with.
no subject
Nyardyn Mewzunia If that's the case, then you need only hope that said memories are mundane and unexciting, and therefore you'll be sent nothing ridiculous at all.
Argh that Jack being like "Hey I got a sweet gun!" hasn't happened yet.
Hitori Togusa I wouldn't know, because I've missed out on the fun of the hallucinomemories.
Hitori Togusa Only other example I can think of was a guy that got a cat plush in the mail, and he didn't remember anything about it.
what are timelines....
Nyardyn Mewzunia Really? No "hallucinomemories" at all?
Nyardyn Mewzunia You seem to be one of the fortunate few, Togusa. I'm almost jealous.
Throw Jack under the bus later
Hitori Togusa Either we've found their control group, or we just haven't done the right things yet.
Hitori Togusa Somebody was suggesting that they come to you when you're sleeping, so I should get on a human sleep cycle like everyone else.
Hitori Togusa I said I'd take it under advisement.
no subject
[Ardyn has a terrible sleep schedule you know.]
Nyardyn Mewzunia And I can tell you for certain that they've come to me when I was very much awake. Every time.
no subject
[Pause.]
Hitori Togusa If you're just recalling things like your normal memory, then how come it sticks out? You'd said something before about snow, you're sure that it's something that you can't have done before, instead of it just being an incident that you'd forgotten about?
Hitori Togusa Not, for example, something from your childhood that you just hadn't thought about since it happened?
no subject
[Though to be fair, it's not like Togusa would know. He hasn't spoken to the man about it in finer detail.]
Nyardyn Mewzunia I've also remembered monsters that can't possibly exist.
Nyardyn Mewzunia And healing people with a literal magic touch.
Nyardyn Mewzunia And that's not even taking into consideration the clothes I happened to be wearing.
no subject
Hitori Togusa I can see it. Somehow, it fits with your personality.
Hitori Togusa But it feels like you've done it, even though magic doesn't exist and monsters aren't real?
[It's right there. Yes, this is a serious conversation, but the line is right there. Just take it. Taaaake it.]
Hitori Togusa Why, what were you wearing, something that matched?
no subject
Not that he's even mildly offended.]
Nyardyn Mewzunia You're hilarious, Togusa.
Nyardyn Mewzunia My feelings are utterly and completely hurt.
Nyardyn Mewzunia Now I'm not sure I want to tell you, else I might be attacked by another snide remark.
no subject
Hitori Togusa Even if logic is telling you that what you're seeing is impossible, how do you know it's true?
no subject
Nyardyn Mewzunia One learns to block out his words after years of practice.
[Sorry Fynn. But it's true.]
Nyardyn Mewzunia As for your question, the answer is unsatisfactory.
Nyardyn Mewzunia A gut feeling. A certainty that's difficult to explain unless you've experienced them yourself.
Nyardyn Mewzunia Hardly proof, I know.
no subject
Hitori Togusa Proof's for investigations. Doesn't mean it's not happening.
Hitori Togusa Makes you wonder what would happen if Retrospec does another one of those competitions. "One chance to remember." But what would happen if it gets given to someone who isn't "remembering" anything?
no subject
[pours fuel on the fire with absolutely no regrets.]
Nyardyn Mewzunia Someone like yourself, you mean?
no subject
Hitori Togusa Well. Yeah. We're pretty limited in who of us isn't seeing anything. We're out here, but that means that I have to give it a shot, whatever comes up.
no subject
Nyardyn Mewzunia I'm sure with enough manpower pressed against the door, they'll be forced to confront their feelings in the confines of a closet, rather than escape.
[God, he hopes either Fynn or Gabranth sees this, honestly.]
Nyardyn Mewzunia Regardless, it would be interesting to see if a memory did crop up for you anyway.
Nyardyn Mewzunia Hypothetically speaking. I'd not wish it on you in reality.
no subject
Hitori Togusa I don't know if the door would be able to stand up to that, either...
Hitori Togusa It really is bothering you, isn't it?
Hitori Togusa I appreciate the concern. Maybe I shouldn't try to force it, but I wish things weren't so uncertain.
no subject
[Ardyn is trying hard not to laugh at the very thought. Sorry Fynn. Of course, it's easy enough to quell this feeling of amusement when swinging back around to the subject of memories.]
Nyardyn Mewzunia I think it's only reasonable for it to bother me. And for me to be worried about others, if they'll not do it themselves.
Nyardyn Mewzunia But it's the uncertainty, as you said, that disturbs me the most.
no subject
Hitori Togusa I don't even know what I should be worried about. The scope of what people have been reporting is so out there, it could be anything. Magic, monsters, feudal battles, what's next?
Hitori Togusa The big question everyone's grappling with is the same deep down: what does Retrospec know about us that we don't know about ourselves?
no subject
Nyardyn Mewzunia What's the point of one memory here, another there?
Nyardyn Mewzunia I'd rather be privy to the entire story, or none at all.
[The irony is that, no, you wouldn't, Ardyn.]
no subject
Hitori Togusa Either that, or the shock of remembering a whole lot at once would fry your mind.

Fynn Ibizania Don't expect any gifts for Easter!
Fynn Ibizania Don't even expect a free macchiato!

Hitori Togusa I don't celebrate. I think this means I win.
Hitori Togusa Come on, join in the discussion. Or place your bets on 'What is Togusa repressing?' There's got to be a potential for a pool there.
(no subject)
God why don't I have a Togusa blushing icon
lmao! does he ever blush in the series?
No! Fucking NEVER! I'm having to get it commissioned! The closest we get is a 'I done fucked up'
no subject
Nyardyn Mewzunia Why the spite? We're only talking about your love life, after all.
