Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Characters who have been in game for more than one month will find they can change their profile pictures; newcomers are locked into their first choice. At various points throughout the day users will be sent images of themselves from behind, regardless of where they are. There doesn't seem to be any way to catch whoever might be taking and sending these, however, especially since being alone in a room doesn't seem to be a deterrent.

I don't think it counts as an invitation if I wasn't given much of a choice on accepting it. Have you only just accepted yours?

And I should think right now the company ought to be more worried than the userbase. I can't say as I know very much about law, but forcibly recruiting people and taking pictures of them without their consent is surely the right way to a lawsuit.

Though as unsettling as it is to have a picture taken and sent to me of myself, I can't help but wonder if it's still preferable to having it taken and sent to someone ELSE.

It also begs the question of who could possibly benefit from taking candid photographs of a graduate student getting something to drink out of his refrigerator.

Perhaps. There's quite a few students and professors on here; perhaps it's an elaborate attempt at gathering information for potential blackmail.

Or possibly this is simply a poorly thought out attempt to overtake other social media platforms.

I'm not sure it's an optimal way of selling the functionality of one's platform, however, by extolling the virtues of being able to take pictures of one's users in potentially compromising positions.

Certainly we're talking about it. Bad gossip is better than no gossip at all, that sort of thing. Though I'll admit all this has made me truly interested in is investing in a deadbolt lock. I still haven't gotten a picture of myself; at this point, I'm determined to spend the rest of the night with my back to the wall.
