Good afternoon. For those who don't know me, my name is Cleo Ritter, and I am a rather recent addition to this Retrospec community. I have some questions, to those of you who have received the strange visions after being made a part of this. Specifically, if you're willing, I'd like to hear about those visions. I thought if we collaborate and make a list of what kinds of visions each person receives, we might be able to find a pattern as to who gets what, and perhaps piece together a more complete understanding of what is going on here. Thank you in advance for being willing to share this, and I hope this will prove useful.

it was a giant desert from what i could see, if that's what you mean.

the ship had some sort of gravity on it, since we were walking. and i was arguing about finding a map. that's about it.

A map? You were in space, but still needed a map?

apparently. i wanted it as if my life depended on it. [Or someone else's, since he was threatening someone over it.]

i have no idea why or where it led.

I would have thought any society advanced enough to be in space would have more advanced ways to navigate. But then, none of these visions make sense.

maybe it was to somewhere else, away from that planet. that's the only thing i can think of.

[And he has been thinking about it a lot.]

have you seen something as well, then?

Yes, two things. One vision was fighting a monster at the edge of a steel city, with the ocean far below. The details are... fuzzy, however. I cannot recall the exact nature of the monster, past that it had scales. The second involved training with swords with an elderly man who was the grandfather of whoever the vision belonged to.

so fantasy where mine felt like science fiction.

was it disorienting for you, as well? my vision was so different from reality i had trouble parsing it at first.

Somewhat. It is difficult to describe. I am not sure how well I could do so over text at all.

i understand. there are still some aspects to it that i can't explain, myself.

hopefully it will clear up in the future without forcing us to deal with some past-life trauma.

I am still not convinced they are truly 'past lives'. Retrospec has shown itself to be capable of a great many bizarre changes, including twisting our perceptions. It's possible it's simply making these up, tailored to us. And the one my visions come from seems to not be human, so I cannot imagine it is a 'past life' in any way.

the idea of reincarnation in hinduism and buddhism both involve the possibility of being born as something not human based on karma, you know. devils, animals, demi-gods.

but i can't blame you for not believing it. they are clearly capable of changing how we perceive things, and there's no real proof that any of it is real. i still don't know what to think.

Is that so? I've never done much research on those. Regardless, I don't think those account for something with claws that still uses a sword. The lives we live and the identities we possess are real, and all else is given to us by those who have ulterior motives, unknown goals, and our harm in mind. Even should they turn out to be true, and our past lives, or some other such nonsense, I would still be wary of them.

i've been doing a lot of reading on it lately. [Guess why!]

i have a similar mindset, even if i'm leaning towards the other side. whatever happened in these memories, if that's what they are, it doesn't change who we are now. we're going to need to stay in the present if we want to stay sane.

That's why I'm sticking to calling them 'visions'. Memories makes it sound too definite.

it's also a more pleasant word than "hallucinations." vision makes it sound more like they might mean something, rather than being the result of a mass drugging or mental illness.

That's right. Although I find myself cautious of whatever meaning they may have. Retrospec will be made to give us the answers eventually, I suppose.

presumably if they're going to keep giving us visions and things, they're going to eventually be faced with a large number of aggravated that they've possibly armed themselves.

That sounds uncomfortably like a riot. I hope it doesn't come to that.

well they've also given us a platform to organize, so probably less like a riot and more of an infiltration.

Already did. While shrunken, no less.

i suppose that works fine if you don't actually plan to take whatever strange control they have away from them.

I fully intend to do so. But I can hardly do that without knowing anything about them.
