Just a couple of things.

-I'm turning 25 on Monday and it seems like the kind of thing you should do something for. I was going to invite people to the pool until some things happened, but now I don't want to, so. I'm going to be at the Inkwell and will accept all birthday congratulations, gifts, and complaints about how grey water is super weird.

Anyone can come, it's not like I run the bar. Unless you're that guy that threatened me, you have to stay at least ten feet away from me at all times.

[Water being grey now is not actually why the pool party is being called off, but it makes an excellent excuse.]

-Does anyone have any advice about explaining your sudden changes in behavior to people who know you really well but don't know what's going on with Retrospec? I can't not talk to my parents.

is it no good? [Bummer.] I'm not really sure then. my uncle and my brother are both on retrospec so I don;'t have any experience dealing with this...sorry.

It must be hard...having to deal with that. If only they'd think the changes were normal like how they just accept all the other changes...

To be fair, if I had kids, I'd be more worried about them acting weirdly than the color green disappearing. Obviously reality changing is scary, but it's not as close to home. You know?

I guess that makes sense. I guess all parents worry about their child's well-being and if they're becoming delinquents or not.

Or if they're falling in with a bad crowd.

They probably assume 'horses' are slang for drugs. "Are there any 'horses' left?"

that'd be a terrible misunderstanding. and you wouldn't be able to explain it either.

I still remember NOT remembering what horses were! it's so weird that that happened...

Knowing that you used to think like that is a Yikes. Double Yikes is knowing that you could be thinking that any other weird thing was normal now and not even realize it.

Remember when we just complained about social media websites changing their layouts for no reason? I miss those days.

I guess. But I met a lot of people on here...I even found my brother!

So it hasn't been all bad....but the bad stuff is pretty bad too.

There are some cool people, but I'd rather just meet them at the book club or something.

Not all of them. You're right. And I'm not sure I want to think about whether my friendships would be worth trading for peace of mind.

it's a hard decision to make. I don't think I'd be able to trade meeting my brother for anything...

but it's been pretty hard on people too.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you only meet your brother here?

something happened between my parents and I never knew my father growing up. I only learned later that I had a brother but I never thought I'd meet him.

I didn't even recognize him at first. I thought I just met someone with the same name as him.

[In retrospect it was silly. But at the time it had seemed perfectly reasonable.]

I'm glad you got to meet. I'm an only child, but I think I'd miss my siblings if we were separated, even if I didn't know them.

[Just don't do anything silly like try to get your parents back together in a heartwarming tale of family love.]
