Welcome to Retrospec™, the last social media network you will ever need. You are one of the few selected to test this exciting new platform based on our cutting-edge algorithms. Less than two hundred invitations have gone out, and membership is not currently open to the public. However, we hope you will come to see how useful Retrospec™ is, given time. We have for your use a variety of features such as text, voice, video, and image posts. We encourage you to explore our many options.

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. As a reminder, everything besides uploading a profile picture and information was locked until this post. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Oddly, profile pictures still cannot be swapped out at this time, so hopefully you took a good one.

I haven't decided how I feel right now myself, whether I'm entertained or just distracted from a night out. This whole thing is very strange.
borntoolate: (staring)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-01 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Strange because of yetis?
Or strange because of mystery app?
true_noir: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-01 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
The mystery app. First there were these weird sounds the other day, and now this thing has installed itself. It's confusing.
borntoolate: (watching)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-01 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
It is pretty weird.
We can't get rid of it.
But it doesn't seem like it wants money.
And what kind of scam doesn't want money?
true_noir: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-01 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
I really don't know that much about scams, but I've changed all my passwords just in case. I wonder what it is meant to do. After all, they have to make money somehow, right?
borntoolate: (chitchat)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-01 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, maybe they'll charge us to remove the app from our phones.
I bet a lot of people would shell out for that right now.

I've heard even factory resets don't work, so it must be something else. But you're probably right, though you don't sound like you want to just yet.
borntoolate: (waiting)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-01 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
They don't.
Neither does buying a new phone.
But I decided I'm not gonna worry about it.
It's just another social media app.
No big deal.

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-01 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Wait.

What do you mean buying a new phone doesn't work?
borntoolate: (what's going on down there?)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-01 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
It installed on the new one too.
I think I'm just stuck with it.
true_noir: (Worry)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-01 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
That worries me. Assuming you're not lying to poke fun at me, how could they do that? It's like they know our identities and they're tracking us somehow. That shouldn't be possible.
borntoolate: (not buying that)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-02 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Why would I lie about that?
Anyway, I'm less worried about how they're tracking us than why they're tracking us.
I mean, what are they actually getting out of this?
true_noir: (Default)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-02 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't mean to say that you were lying. I just don't know you is all. The whole situation is strange, so neither of us has reason to trust each other truly, not yet anyway. But you might be right. how is not as scary as why.

If it's just some weird ad, it's a lot of work for that, isn't it?
borntoolate: (for you)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-02 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't really work as an ad anyway.
What are they even selling?
And they haven't asked for credit card numbers yet.
true_noir: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Which I definitely wouldn't be giving them. But, they found us without them, so that makes me wonder if they found out more. It seems so much effort for so little result.
borntoolate: (not buying that)

[personal profile] borntoolate 2017-02-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah gonna pass on that too.
But they'll probably find a few suckers.
Scammers like this always do.
