Well. Unless someone else has gotten an entire house from Retrospec, I rather think I win. In bragging rights, if nothing else.

[There's a pause, and then Rosalind adds a few photos: these ones, specifically, that I'll link so I don't spam yall. also ETA: there's no wires or pipes and certainly no giant machine in the midst of all this; it's just an ordinary house. ...with a giant hole in the second floor.]

On one hand, I can see where that might not be such a bad idea.

On the other hand, that madman was an isolated incident, wasn't it? And he's in custody now, so the chance of a repeat offense is essentially nil?

More or less, yes.

I think he was more disturbed at the revelation than anything, frankly. I hadn't told him, and he was . . . on top of getting the app, on top of a few other revelations between us, it was an enormous shock. So he compensated the only way he knew how, and so did I. We fought a bit.

That sounds strikingly familiar, actually. We did something of the sort ourselves when it came to testing those concoctions Retrospec sent you, didn't we?

"Ineptitude" is a kind word for it. Frankly, Kit, at this point I'd prefer you come back and we can just resume sneaking around.

If only there were a way that didn't involve putting both our careers on the line to do it.

You'd simply be a companion, sitting in on my classes, occasionally offering opinions on a subject you know a great deal on already. Nothing more or less. There'd certainly be no conflict of interest then.

Surely by now I've earned the right to ascend to the level of "colleague", at least?
