For the record, you're talking to someone in possession of out-of-this-world tech *and* powers to boot. There's even a shop here that sells items from my world now. So anyone could get in on that action. In theory.

honestly, i have no idea where retrospec is getting inspiration for these regains and other worlds from.

now, i had no idea about the shop though. had no idea it existed until now, but
if we're going by virtual life idea, it could all be data.
now if we're going back to my drug theory, we may be hallucinating it all.

btw what are your powers?
i've already heard or seen people with time, super speed, and wind abilities.
although i only witness the last one in the 8bit world last month.

Let me give you one more take before I get into what I can do.

Assuming that it's all someone's imagination and they created all those alternate worlds, showing them to us in dreams and all, you're right to ask where they get the inspiration from. Moreover, how do they know how to keep the details consistent but separate? What happens when two people remember the same events, or even see each other in those other worlds?

If you ask me, as crazy as life here already is, it's a far greater stretch to imagine that there is a dedicated studio of programmers or whatever just out there making all these disposable histories for all of us and then broadcast them into our brains or everyone's brains. I can't even imagine a big budget film studio putting that much effort into one single movie, much less dozens or even hundreds of them simultaneously released in the span of less than two years since the app was released.

It's like that one logical explanation I'm forgetting the word for. The one that says something about:the simplest explanation is usually the right answer.

Again, I'm not saying you're wrong, or I'm right, but I just don't buy anymore that it's *all* a lie.

and yet i can't buy it's all true neither.
a lot of my memories have been all over the place in way of getting to know this "other version" of me.
the only thing i will admit is that we have a few things in common personality-wise.
but her situation is insanely different and simply too odd to be true.

and you'd be surprise what people with money and/or power are willing to waste it on.
if there is a purpose that will help them accomplish a certain goal, if they are persistent enough, especially if they have all the require conditions to make it come true, then they'll do everything it takes for it to happen.
i have no idea what retrospec's goal is, but once someone figures it out, then it'll be difficult to believe all of this is real.

something that is too good to be true usually isn't.
so i will stick with the camp of non-believers unless proven otherwise, and so far i have no reason to believe this company or anyone who is willing to follow them without question.

i can believe people having powers because they are forced to have them.
just recently, i got the ability to sing when i used to suck at it and now i know a new language that doesn't seem to exist.
but i didn't actively ask for them, the knowledge just popped into my head.
i'm sure it was the same for you, right?

Okay, that's fair. I'm not out to change anyone's mind just giving my perspective. And I can see where you're coming from, too. We don't know if Retrospec has a goal at all. If it's insidious, if their motives are altruistic, or that they're basically just treating us like lab rats.

For me, the memories and abilities went hand-in-hand but came out of order. I've had my mechanical arm come and go, for example, and go through changes that don't match the memories I have of my other self using it. The powers I inherited, though, are pretty consistent with the imaginings.

The weirdest part, again, is that those differences with my arm also changed with the other me's me.

To clarify: both Yin and I have memories of Yang.

And now that I actually type the names out like that in a row I'm laughing at the irony here. I like a good pun but that's just too on the nose for me.

Sure! I have a few posted on my instagram, of me and of Zwei.

[ which she'll just link to. it seems to be a popular way to show people what Jen's life is like, so beyond the collage of pictures of her yellow and black arm with the doll joints, she has a couple of shots of her holding up Zwei, him licking her face, the obligatory Corgi Butt, and then if she scrolls further it's easy to find all her fitspo selfies at the gym or in the mirror at home (some taken with outside help...), a bunch of beach stuff, flowers, pics of her in her volleyball uniforms, and so on and so forth.

gone are Yin's piercings and tattoos, the youtube accounts with drum covers and associated music pages are absent from all sources, and her own twitter, FB, and other social media accounts are all along the same vein of a girl who's never set foot inside a bar to get drunk, never been arrested for getting into a fight in the Denny's parking lot at 3 A.M., and can only play two tunes on the harmonica. ]
