OOCly, IDs are comprised of their title, the date they showed up on the app, and the digits on your character's inbox post. So for example, the Recollé NPC who was on the app would have an ID of Beta#0201188329. While user pictures can be displayed, Retrospec users will also experience broken pixels on occasion that obscure the face of whoever they're speaking to. (i.e. we will allow for players to play with an anonymous option if they wish.)

Any of those would certainly be appreciated! Even if they can't manage all of them, couldn't they at least be a bit more honest and open about what they're doing with us?

but they mostly just talk to us when reality’s in danger
maybe with safe mode off they’ll have to tell us something?

I hope so. It would be nice to get some information from them for once. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just more of the same, though.

when things get really sketchy they seem to be okay with letting some things slip
either that or they just can’t keep their hands on their stuff well enough to keep it from us at that point
otherwise we’d still be going off of nothing

It's certainly difficult to tell if they're intentionally keeping things from us or if they genuinely are that incompetent... I would prefer to believe the former because I can't imagine why they'd attempt something like this if they are that incompetent.
