Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

Please take care.

You're on the same level as Retrospec with that cryptic imagery... Are you foretelling some unavoidable disaster too?
standalonehuman: (TogusaTalk2)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-02 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa Well, if you follow the traditions, not entirely unavoidable.
Hitori Togusa It's a drawing of fortune for the New Year, and, in this case, a particularly bad fortune.

Not sure what else you were expecting, all things considered... But oh well! This is why I can't say I like following traditions, unless they're the ones involving food. There's hardly any bad luck that comes from that.

Hitori Togusa Really? But food is okay. Do you have a favorite New Year's meal, then?

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-02 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
No, but I get the benefit of going off of two different calendars, so I can pick which holidays I want to observe. Food doesn't foretell bad luck or anything like that, it's just food.

Hitori Togusa Oh! Pardon my ignorance, then. You have the choice to work off of both a Solar and Lunar calendar, I'm guessing? Or is it something different?
godcards: (27.)

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-02 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
That's mostly correct, but I wouldn't think on it too hard if I were you.

I was just answering your question.

[ he's a cheater who isn't religious but will observe some Islamic holidays when it is convenient for him. ]

Hitori Togusa Fair enough.

[Malik Ishtar, everybody.]

Hitori Togusa The full answer to your earlier question is that this is more of a warning that a disaster could show up, so to be more cautious. Preventable.

[ i'm sorry he's like this ]

Oh? And you really needed your fortune told for that? Where have you been these past two years, exactly... ?

Hitori Togusa Sitting relatively easier than a lot of people on the app, as you like to remind me.

[Togusa is Malik actually reminding you or is it your own guilt reminding you when you talk to Malik?]

Hitori Togusa It's more about getting the advice that is being given. Showing I'm open to listening.

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-02 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
What a nice thought, in light of a less fortunate fortune. But will you heed the warning? I guess that's an even bigger question...
standalonehuman: (TogusaPonder)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-02 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa I suppose now we know for certain that something dangerous is coming. So how to heed it?
Hitori Togusa The first advice I try to tell people when something starts is to not go anywhere alone, or keep in contact with people. That's a start.

Somehow I can't help but feel like this is directed at me... so to that I'll say: I will take it under advisement. I'm not the one who pulled the ominous warning, however.

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-02 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa True enough. But didn't we all just get an ominous warning anyway? Will we listen?
standalonehuman: (TogusaLaugh)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-02 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa Good to see your faith's still intact! If both of us get the warning and neither of us listen, is it only Joanne that gets to say I told you so?
godcards: (16.)

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-02 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Joanne doesn't speak to me, so once again, I say No.

You don't get to either, when I've been behaving this entire time and answering your questions. You can't one up me!
standalonehuman: (TogusaWaveOff)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-02 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa Okay, deal. No I told you sos. I reserve that crap for my colleagues anyway.

Hitori Togusa I wish Joanne would come out and talk to us though. She was really nice when I met her and I wasn't the nicest back.
godcards: (03.)

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-03 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe Joanne doesn't like you because you were cruel to her.

Although even I have a hard time believing that... Your version of "cruel" is probably frowning very sternly at someone when you are disappointed in them.

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-05 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa They were trying to hand out more weapons, upgrade the weapons that they had already thrown around to everyone. I wasn't very approving. I didn't accept the upgrade. They'd already given me an extranatural ability, temporarily.

Hitori Togusa But it wasn't her fault, it was all she could do for us.

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-06 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
That's it? What a stupid thing to be angry about.
standalonehuman: (TogusaDudeSeriously)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-06 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa It's stupid to you to get angry about these guys handing out the weapons first, the training second, so we've had a lot of people, even children, with very dangerous things they don't know how to use?
godcards: (07.)

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-06 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
If I had to choose between half the other things they have given me and the cool knife... well, I'd prefer the cool knife.

And are you assuming no one knows anything, or are you just trying to justify your anger at the situation?
standalonehuman: (TogusaTalkDown)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2019-01-06 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Hitori Togusa I know that people have gotten back things they didn't know how to use. I know some of those things have included powerful guns and even tanks. Things that nobody should need.
godcards: (27.)

[personal profile] godcards 2019-01-06 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Until Retrospec decides they should... Look, all I can say is that if these are regains, then at some point, the user will remember how to use them. I think Retrospec is about as worst as you can get, but you sound more like a concerned parent because no one is babysitting your children... And that's a pretty petty thing to be angry about in comparison, that is all I am saying.
