Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

Please take care.

Dude... that's so... different.

Were you playing more happy upbeat music? If so, is there a difference when you play scary eerie music? Like snakes and spiders appearing?

Uh, I suppose I was? I didn't really test it with different types of music, I was kinda busy being weirded out by the flowers and birds.

Okay, fine. Hold on for a bit?

[gotta go out somewhere so he doesn't have to deal with animals appearing in his room. But right, going to test this theory out!!

I don't know!!

There were all these colors, and then a giant light pillar that was really disorienting-

It destroyed a lamppost.

A pillar of light did that? Do you just have really destructive magic when you play creepy music now? I mean... if so, that's cool. I wonder what would happen with sad music... or lullaby's... the potential is interesting.

That's not cool at all, I don't want to destroy things!

And I'm not testing it anymore!!

But such a skill might be useful if something is attacking you and you're alone... with only your violin. I mean, if you practiced more, maybe you could aim said pillar of colorful light and have it be not as destructive.

No way! I got plenty of other ways to defend myself!

And I don't want my music to be destructive.

[Man, Elliot is like this fluffy bunny who wants to only frolic through the flowers. That is the image that crosses through Derek's mind.]

So are you only going to play happy and upbeat music for the reset of your life? That takes out a lot of different musical genres. I mean, you'll never be able to play Mars from The Planets, which is an amazing piece.

[There is a very long pause in his response as it dawns on him. What if this meant he couldn't play music anymore without magic getting set off? He already has that issue with singing, but now it was his violin? His beloved violin?

It was such a terrifying thought. Music meant everything to him]

I don't know.

[Poor Elliot, Derek didn't mean to cause him such a crisis, he was just trying to state the logical facts.]

You might want to figure that out soon. You're in music school right? Wouldn't not playing certain music effect your grades?
