Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

Please take care.

I guess his way to make sure he's an established villain of some sort. And killing children makes it extra nasty.

On the topic of killing, apparently Draco's world has a killing curse. One of the "Unforgivable Curses." It wouldn't have bothered me as much if it hadn't been fore the fact the teacher is nuts and the students were 14.

[What a segue Derek...]

Charming. And here we were in my world doing it the old-fashioned way. ...Or just using our magic to set people on fire, I suppose.

Well, the universe needs classics to reference don't they. Did your world burn criminals at the stake? I mean, for me a bit unnerving with witches and the trials in salem, but still a classic trope.

No, fortunately enough... We had mages and the like just running around in front of God and everyone. It was never really seen as a bad thing. As for the criminals, we tended to draw and quarter them like civilized people.

The one I've remembered tended to fight by way of setting people on fire.

Ah yes, draw and quartering people is much no civilized isn't it? Reminds me how at Hogwarts, Draco went there anyway, students were punished by being hung by their wrists with chains in the dungeons. By the time Draco got there, it was sending 11 year olds off to the forbidden forest to look for an injured unicorn in the middle of the night.

I wouldn't know what we did regarding our children or anything, given that all of my memories involve being an adult. I know several of them died because of me, however, so there's that.

...It was a little more deliberate than that, unfortunately.

Why can't you just let me make your other self sound a bit better than he actually was?

He did a fair amount of that himself, honestly. Tremendous amounts of narcissism.

Well, now I'm wondering what you're basing that assumption off of.

[personal profile] blondferret 2019-01-02 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
He couldn't have been as bad as Voldemort, that's all I'm saying.

[Hmmm, did Derek tell Cumore about Voldemort????]

I wouldn't know, given that I've no idea who that is.

Voldemort is this evil wizard that somehow comes back from the dead (personally i know think it is because he killed a person, split is soul and put the ripped in part inside an object, thus making it impossible to kill him) and desire to rule over all muggles and kill all muggle born witches and wizards. Muggle= non magical people.

He blackmails Draco (me) (age 16 btw) into killing his headmaster by threatening to kill him and his parents. He also uses Draco's house as a home base and kills the muggle studies teacher in front of Draco over top the dining room table. And then commands his huge ass snake to eat the body. He's creepy and fuck and doesn't have a nose.

Well, I can assure you that my face was intact in my past life, if that's any consolation. That said, I'm not about to scream about this in front of God and everyone.

I honestly can't say for sure whether I would have carried out those specific sorts of actions or not back then. I know I routinely threatened to murder people's families if they didn't do what I wanted them to do. On several occasions, I carried through on the threat. I personally ordered a large number of people to commit suicide, and ensured that they followed through on it. I lied to several others to get them to willingly sign themselves over to work in forced labor camps, where many of them died from being overworked. Women and children were down there, several of them. I killed some of my own men, for infuriatingly petty reasons. Sometimes simply because they were there.

My primarily interests were military conquest and torturing those that I considered beneath me, and that was about all I was interested in. I was planning to launch a full-scale war against a rivaling faction of people who had seceded from the Empire, for no real reason that I can discern other than I didn't want the Commandant to negotiate peace with them.

So yes, I can actually assure you that my past life was "that bad."

Past you and Voldemort might have gotten along.

On the bright side, you aren't like that so we can be friends and you won't cause me nightmares or be my boggart.

Not that you could murder someone over my dining room table. A girl teleported to my flat last month and landed on my table, crushing it.

I certainly hope I'm not like that. Really, my past life was more or less a checklist of things you probably should avoid doing with your life, ending in "getting murdered in the desert by a vigilante."

Although speaking of the whole friendship...thing and the conversations we've had regarding that, I do have to wonder if my soul is back in one piece now or not, seeing I was thrown off the network for a while and all.

...My condolences about the table, however.

It was an Ikea table. Not even real wood.

Are you referring to when you screwed up your soul by smashing your heart stone? I don't know. Do you have feelings of whatever you were trying to avoid and not feel... whatever you didn't want to feel.

[personal profile] drydrown 2019-01-02 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I...don't know? I generally feel fine and less strangely aimless than I did before, at least, so that's presumably a good thing.
blondferret: (i got you)

[personal profile] blondferret 2019-01-03 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that does sound better. Now don't do anything more destructive to your soul OK?!?!
drydrown: the magna carta's a nice suggestion (HAUGHTY ♡ judging like john marshall)

[personal profile] drydrown 2019-01-04 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, perhaps that would be easier if people would stop handing me pieces of my soul to potentially destroy.

I think they've only done it once. But if it ever happens again, call me and let me know!

[So he can take it away and hide it from you of course.]
