Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

Heh sorry, I've not really done much dream analysis before.

I haven't either, but I'm a writer, I'm trained to think in symbolism and metaphor.

Yeah... I barely passed my lit class in college. I'm much better with quantifiable things.

Whereas I was solidly in the 'this will never help me in real life' camp. If I can make change and calculate a tip, I'm pretty much set.

Honestly, that's pretty much all most people need on a day to day basis, so yeah, you're set. Why they insist on torturing high school students with calculus is beyond me.

Something about STEM subjects. As if dissecting owl pellets will have any practical value for us either.

I haven't dissected an owl pellet... but I have in a sense dissected a few 'mystery clumps' over the years. So that skill does have some practical application in certain situations.

Find any mice in there?

No mice, but I've found wedding bands, bullets, and the occasional gum wrapper.

Thankfully, no animal I had to dissect in high school had eaten a bullet.

Thankfully, I'm not a policeman, and if there's ever a concerning clump at the Inkwell we just throw it out.

Yeah, I would hope you don't end up with too many concerning clumps there.

It's happened only once in my tenure there, and that was when a power outage knocked out our fridge for a while. Otherwise your drinks are clump-free, I promise.

That is a welcome reassurance. I've been to the Inkwell a few times. The drinks are good.
