retrospec | (no subject)

Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

We had monsters as well where I came from. I created several of them, and the ones I didn't create I certainly encouraged the spread of.

"Questionable" is at least a step above "terrible"; they sound interesting, at any rate.

You created monsters?

With science of magic?

I'm pretty sure all of mine were of the magical variety you would see in some Arabian story, Djinns, mermaids, sea monsters, to name a few of the big ones.

It was science, on my end. Allegedly, anyway; I'm fairly sure science doesn't actually work like that in any realistic capacity.

I worked with viruses back then, primarily, although there were a fair number of parasites and other organisms as well. Things that were designed to induce mutations in people and animals.

Sounds like something from a zombie movie, did you just binge watch several and got a crap ton of memories back?

...You know, somehow it never occurred to me to try that.

...Oh...well, did you even want them? I sort of see them as exicting stories of what could have been.

Better than my actual memories anyway.

Yes and no, I suppose. It's always been important to me to have some sort of understanding of who I used to be in my past life, since all of this started.

It's been difficult, but that hasn't changed.

I'm honestly still on the fence about how much of what Retrospec is saying, all this other world stuff...WAAAYY above my pay grade.

Not that I'm opposed to the concept, just, I've found it better not to really think about it too hard, makes it easier to accept...sort of.

Understandably so on all counts. I can't say I fault you for it in the least.

I'm family so I sort of contractually obligated to give him the benefit of the doubt...most days.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know very much about that - I don't have any siblings that I know of. I suppose I had one in my past life, but I didn't remember her very well even then.

Been on both sides of that fence.

Siblings make things a little interesting, sometimes in a:
"I seriously want to punch your lights out but I won't cause I want to be a good brother"

or "Sis, I love you, but seriously slow the hell down. If you get into a car accident, I would never get dibs on the car."

Things like that. I think I rather have siblings around, even if they can be annoying as hell, it's sort of...like built-in back-up...some days.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it.

I've generally been alone for most of my life. Both this one, and my past life as well. It's something I'm accustomed to; it's strange now that it's not like that for me anymore, if anything.

I bet you'd probably get more mushy lovey dovey shit from other people.

Ah, I get that. Probably not to your extent since...I'm almost 18 now but still. Trying to get along with people without pissing them off or saying the wrong thing...can be pretty freaking hard.

Seeing as I got married recently, I'd say I'm doing well enough.

How long ago?

Mid-November. There was a fair amount happening in the city then, but it was much less than there had been previously, so we just decided that it was as good a time as any.

During all the day of the dead celebrations?

Yeah, I guess that is a good time to get married as any.

Any tips for a single guy?

Unfortunately for any advice I may have potentially had to offer, he was the one who approached me and tended to move things along.

It takes two though to get married so, you must have had SOME role in it.

Well, yes, of course I did; it's just somewhat difficult to put it into words, I suppose.

I do everything I can for him, though. His happiness is deeply important to me.

Sorry...it's just...I have a hard time imagining myself in...something like that.

It was hard for me to picture it myself until fairly recently, in fairness.
