retrospec | (no subject)

Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

They are... and, haha, I might be a little bit of a sword geek, even now, so it's that much more interesting to me. I do already own a sword, but I don't really think it's meant to be used so much as it is a display piece...

That I can't display, because dorms. But, you know.

Pretty sure having a sword in your dorm makes you more than a "little bit" of one, but I get what you mean. I got really excited when I found out my staff could be a violin.

Once you get sword, I know a good place we can practice. I can't help with your sword swings, but if you get your ARCUS I know I can help with that!

Listen... I wasn't going to bring it? But mom and I got into some stupid fight over it and I snuck it along as some kind of stupid late-teen rebellion. Which, given how flagrantly a violation of housing policies it is, was an incredibly dumb idea, but I can't exactly mail it back now!

[What exactly happened will remain a noodle incident, but this is why Rean has the sword and his player is sticking with it.]

Haha, oh that's what happened. Well I guess everyone has to rebel in their own ways.

If you're that worried about getting caught, you can always store it at my place. We have plenty of weapons here, but our landlord's never had a problem.

I'm not really that worried. Have you seen how they inspect dorms? So long as you don't have a bunch of daisy-chained extension cords taped on your wall they basically don't even look. And I know that now, but I didn't then, so... no matter how you look at it, it was stupid, but here we are.

Oh right, I forgot about that with the dorms. That explains why my old dormmate was able to get away with so much smoking.

Yeah, I guess so. Although, here's hoping I remember how to use the thing past what I've retained from my classes back home...

Either way, sounds like there's a good deal of training in my future. That's one way to work out, I guess.

Yeah, for sure! Still don't really do much physical training, but practicing magic's become pretty routine for me.

Yeah. When you've got magic, though, you've got range, so it's not like you've got too much to worry about physically... I'm going to have to be a lot more fit than I am if I'm planning on swinging a sword around.

...Heh. It's crazy talking about all of this seriously.

Haha, yeah that's true enough. Then again, you should have magic too eventually. So you might have to practice both.

You know your life has gone crazy when "yeah, I hung out with yetis last month" is one of the least weird things you can say. Sigh...
