Happy New Years, users. I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps. As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think? The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can. Please take care. Joanne Wiseman Technician 2nd class Retr ![]()

I KNEW what you meant. It just seems like doing something like that would be a huge waste of magic and energy to pull off.
[But 'hot as hell' and 'underground mine' can only be one place around here, so he can't help but ask--]
I can't imagine what you were doing in Respatrum of all places, though.

Is this super awkward for him because he attacked Al last time?
It's the only thing he can think of, and it was awkward as hell for him when he confronted the app user that was a demon, so, the petty aggression is annoying, but he lets it slide, this must be his way of processing awkwardness.]
It doesn't take that much energy, but even if it did, I didn't want to harm my attacker, since I felt first hand the app screw with my mind a whole crap ton, it's no surprise that our bodies too can be screwed around with. So I don't hold anything against any of my attackers, sure I was scared then, but everyone got out alright and that's what matters.
I take it that's the name of the place? I don't remember if Mio mentioned the name or not, I was with her getting some magic anti-demon bells.
[Al is trying to be considerate about it. If they switched places, Al would probably be thankful for being discreet while getting the point across, no idea if this would help the other guy's sense of guilt any.
He was smiling and happy with himself for taking a step in the right direction, with the whole "being a good person" thing.]

If you don't want to harm your attacker, you don't set yourself on fire when they're attached to your leg. Especially when you know they're regular people under there, too.
[Xiaolang certainly wasn't winning any 'good person' awards at the moment, not with this level of stubborn grudgery, and Sakura probably wouldn't like seeing him act this way. And with the knowledge he was around Mio too... well, at least he knew she was capable of shutting down people who tried to intimidate her. But boy, what a pair...]
What did you mean, exactly, by the app messing with your brain, though? Did this happen during the summer?

I didn't want to get bitten and turned into a monster, setting myself on fire seemed like the best way to make sure I don't get bitten and they leave me alone.
THAT I don't feel like sharing in detail, but the worst of it did happen in the summer, yes.

But he wasn't about to argue that now. Instead, he's going to latch onto that last bit, because while Al doesn't think it's his business, he feels like it's very, very much so.]
In the summer. Okay.
Is that why you went and yelled at my girlfriend at her job, then?
[......... Xiaolang, can you be any blunter, holy SHIT]

Al fumes mad at the text, Seriously? OVER THE NETWORK!? Even if Al DID feel like sharing his story with Xiaolang(which he doesn't), that's something for face to face. Not demanded as if he were his underling.]
I think I humored you enough.
Your girlfriend does deserve an explanation and she WILL get one, what she does from there is her choice.
You, however, I don't owe squat.
Good day.
[After writing and re-writing that damn freaking text for what feels like forever, he finally decides on this one.
If for some reason he wanted to be an ass, Al could at least say he tried his best to make peace with the idiot.
Al is just exhausted from how much effort he put in trying to be civil to this guy and hopes being "good" isn't always this hard.
He is seriously considering ignoring future texts from him until he sits down with Sakura, maybe even after.]
