Posting from this network, you'd probably assume I got my job back. Hey users. For those of you who're new, my name is Zee. Sorry to say it, but you've been pulled into the Retrospec project now. Not sure what that is? Get someone else to explain it to you, there're plenty of people who've been around for way longer than deserved.

So…you'd probably assume I got my job back, and I kind of did. I kind of did, but there's a funny little thing about Retrospec and memories. Let me tell you a brief story.

Once upon a time, there were the four founders who came to this planet, founded the city of Recollé and started the Retrospec project. Yeah. Another planet. They're technically aliens, I might technically be an alien, some of YOU might be aliens, it's hard to say. So anyway you have the four founders: Spinnato, Cavendish, Mahoney and Vanderweele. These four created an ideal project to protect life on other planets, offer inhabitants a safe haven to recover from tragic events of their world that were being destroyed (as planets are wont to do) and "regrow" the place you once called home. The problem is that the four of them weren't entirely in agreement on what sort of people should be "worthy" of being saved, or who should be able to become part of the Retrospec project to preserve their souls and recreate what was lost. Souls are a tricky thing. I should know, given I think mine was floating around in the endless abyss for a few months while my body regenerated.

There was such a controversy amongst the founders that one of them, Vanderweele, ended up wiping out an entire family line. There are relatives left from the Spinnato family. Cavendish and Mahoney decided to spearhead the project themselves and sentenced Vanderweele to life in solitary confinement. Once that happened, they began changing how the project was one. They hired some of their own family members. They changed and became the "new" Retrospec.

Vanderweele's not dead though. And as a master of illusion, you can guess where this story is going. I'm not going to do this vague and hiding bullshit that the company's fond of: Vanderweele is out there and meddling with the affairs of this city to overthrow and regain control of the project. All of these weird storms that are happening, the things that mess with your soul? That's Vanderweele's work.

So why am I telling you this?

…Vanderweele got to Retrospec. A lot of you asked if Retrospec knew I was alive again and at the time I didn't know if they did or not, so when I got back to this layer (thank you, by the way. All of you.), I went to headquarters. Everyone inside doesn't even seem to remember that they were working on the project. I don't know WHAT he did, but their memories…everything's scrambled. The entire tech department resigned and I'm not sure if Maurice thinks he's working in a normal mailroom or what. They're almost on the same layer that you guys are before you wake up. Or that's how it seems anyway.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like it's just you and me.

We need to start moving and putting a stop to this to fix everything. I'm not saying you have to. If you want to sit this one out, fine, but I have a feeling most of you want to do something about this. Bring people back to themselves. That kind of thing. You're all pretty stubborn from what I've noticed and that's the good thing.

There are some things I need to check. I'm learning how everything works here and I'm trying to understand all of their notes, not to mention I need to retrieve a few things and wait for a field agent but you'll hear from me soon. I have an idea, but these things take time.

Stick together. Talk to each other. Keep focused.

Oh. I guess also I should mention I moved offices? I'll be staying at headquarters for a while but my remote office is easier to access. Head to the public library, you should be set to get past the scanners on the back of the building and the door will appear for you. I'll be reachable by text, too.

Sure! We could meet up after school if ya want. Calm times in-between disasters rarely last more than a week, so take advantage of the calm.

Also, you might want to talk to Tatsuo, he runs a legit dojo and there are practices there.

[He makes his way to the school courtyard after school, this guy is always packing snacks, seriously, at any time ask him for a snack and he probably has you covered. Assuming he feels like sharing.

Especially today when he made it a point to clean one of his food stashes for today, which means his bag is practically half snacks.

Hey Yuki! Are you liking the weather up there?

[He says teasingly]

[It sure is.

She's typing away on a laptop, dressed warmly for the weather and curled up in a nook between the branches. When she hears Al approach, she waves cheerfully.]

Hiya! It's a liiiiittle chilly, but nothing I can't handle!

[Another person might found her on a tree odd, for him, he smiles as if saying "finally someone gets it!". He has slept in a tree a few times before]

And you didn't think that I don't know, a guy that can spew fire like...magic or something couldn't help with that?

There is more than one setting on the magic you know.

[Obvious freindly teasing here.]

It's not like I came out here totally unprepared. I've got handwarmers and stuff, too.

[She carefully shifts, rearranging herself so she can face him properly from her perch. As she does, a finger traces around the track pad.]

I'll get down once I get everything packed up!

Just checking that you're doing alright.

I have slept in a few trees myself, pro-tip, get yourself some rope to tie yourself into the tree. Really reduces the chances of you accidentally rolling off while your sleeping.

Also tie up the bag, it would suck if it fell and someone stole it.

I learned those the hard way and maybe got a mild concussion once

...Uh, I wasn't actually planning on sleeping out here.

[Probably. It's pretty cold, and even she'd get chased away by that ~~maybe.~~

That aside, she jumps down from the tree, carefully setting her backpack down at the trunk and then stepping towards him, moving her arms back and forth to limber them up.]

Okay! Let's get started!

[Al loves the positive happy vibes he is picking up from her.

He looks around for a few sticks while she limbers up.]

AH! These should do!

[They are short sticks, he breaks the smaller branches off of them and gets rid of the leaves. Before handing her one]

Alright, so, this is sort of like fencing, one hand behind your back, bend your knees a little.

[He gets into the fencing stance]

Take a swing at me however you like, and I'll show you how to move or block the attack.

Fencing, huh...

[She holds the offered stick in her right hand, holding her left behind her and bending her knees as instructed. Nodding at his words, she waits for a moment to figure out where best to strike before charging ahead with a thrust to the center!]

[When she charges toward him, he jumps to the side, giving him plenty of room to counter-attack, so he just taps her gently at her back with the stick.]

Good thrust! Keep it light and be ready to react,

You want to try and do the same, spar and pick things up as we go?

Up to you and how you learn.

[Oops, there he goes... She does catch herself before she runs too far ahead at least, allowing her left hand to fall again to retain balance.]

Sparring sounds good! Is it okay if I try swinging the sword a little differently from you, though?

[Samurai usually meant kendo, assuming that memory was real and not a case of her past self being an actress of some sort. If it's going to unlock anything, maybe that would be more appropriate?]

Sure, I assume you're going to try some samurai stuff, young grasshopper?

[he says with a big smile on his face, gets into position again after taking a few steps back]

My turn to strike first?

Yup!

[And with a grin, she adjusts her grip, holding it in the basic chudan-no-kamae that is absolutely informed by anime and video games and not at all by reality.]

Alright, bring it!

All right, let's try getting those memories flowing.

[Al looks at her, waits for a while, before suddenly charging forward, and slashing high, intending to clash blades to see what she would do.

He is also just getting excited over the thought, that he may get to spar with a legit samurai one day, plus this was his good deed PLUS this would be fun AND make a friend, what more could a guy ask for?]

[She just hurriedly raises the stick in an attempt to parry it! This is possibly going to turn out more like one of those movie fights with the flynning as opposed to actual body strikes.]

[He presses forward a bit, before taking a step back and re-engage from the side, another slash, aimed for her body this time.

He's trying to restrain himself a bit, he does have super reflexes on his side but he doesn't want to make her frustrated, sides, more fun this way.]

[This time she moves to the side so she can get the stick in place to parry again. Can she redirect it long enough to get a strike in at his chest?]

[He smiles, she parried the slash alright, but as she applied force to move his blade, he moved along with it, twirling his body to go with the momentum fluidly.

Which leaves him at her side, making a wild slash at her body again, to try to minimize her chance of getting a counter-attack in]
