Jim Halloway Research & Development Retrspec Incorporated As of this post all apples, oranges, lemons, and limes have been replaced in-universe as the silly dancing fruits shown above. This means that as with Chocobos all NPCs will insist this is how things have always been and history/movies/etc will back them up. In honor of St. Patrick's Day characters will find a request from Retrospec to upload a picture of themselves to the network in which they are wearing something green. They will find themselves shocked lightly by their device if they try to use it without complying. Rude? A non-triggered memory regain can be earned through participation in this post in honor of Lucy's birthday the holiday with proof of a single thread with at least five comments from your character. If you plan to redeem this, please submit it to our regains page with the explanation of "March freebie". This must be submitted before April to be valid! Regardless of whether or not a character earns the freebie, all characters will find a gold coin with the Retrospec logo on one side and a Chocobo on the other. On the outside edge of the coin they will find "Jim, put a meaningful quote here. - Janet" engraved in a beautiful font. The Chocobo will morph into a horse should your character obtain the memory regain from the event; it will stay a Chocobo if your character does not obtain the memory regain. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently.

They're not dangerous. It's scary, but they won't hurt you.

I actually tried to see if an apple would bite back because I thought that would be funny. But it won't. So I think they're safe.

Erm. Are you sure about that? You bit into one yourself, and it didn't react at all?

It didn't change. It just kept smiling.

Which, actually, was creepy in and of itself. I might be sticking to apple juice or pies from now on.

Grapes and bananas are still fine though!

I don't mean to be ungrateful, but that's not very reassuring! Who could have done this?

I'm not sure who. But it's almost like that story that we wrote outside of Retrospec. You've got the basic story, but someone else needs to add in the verbs and the nouns. Those could be anything. We thought the story made sense one way, but then someone put in 'dancing fruit.' And this is the end result.

That doesn't make any sense! Are you saying we could be replaced by something like dancing fruit at any time?

Well, that's the thing, isn't it? We aren't getting replaced. Everything else could be. But we're not. We're safe from it. I don't know why, but we are.

Except, well, it's still like the story, isn't it? The chocobos are still animals that people can ride on. The fruit is still fruit is still fruit you can eat, just smiling. You can't replace a person with a fruit. Because the story box still says 'person.'

[This is actually a new revelation for Togusa as he types it. Sometimes, explaining it to a kid makes things make a lot more sense.]

It's a little premature to say we're safe from it, isn't it?

For instance, that girl who posted a little while ago -- what's to say she wasn't 'replaced' with a girl with purple eyes? And what if people start being replaced with werewolves, or mummies, or something worse?

And that's assuming the theory is even correct!

i peeled an apple's face off, and it didn't do anything but keep smiling at me, so i at least think they won't bite your fingers off or anything.

though you're right, i think i need to take a break from fruit myself.

well, i took one look away from it to watch the video and when i went back to peeling, it had a face. i was alone when it happened, but i tried texting an image to a friend and they acted like nothing was wrong??

i'm not sure why that's the case with some people
