Welcome to all the unfortunate new users of Retrospec. You should know the unnatural changes of the world also affect loved ones outside the city, who are oblivious as the non-Retrospec users here; you might also experience some physical changes or receive unwanted things in the mail. Usually at the start of the month, given others' accounts. Anyway...

If people were being very insistent. (Very.) And refusing to take no for an answer, what type of birthday present would you ask for?

P.S. Indecisiveness is unhelpful and not the point of the post, please refrain from posting so unless you have some idea.

Probably something signed by a favorite actor/writer/artist.

birthday presents are difficult, aren't they?
if i want something, i would buy it myself
so i suppose... this year i would wish for a birthday dinner
my present would be people bringing themselves

a gift card. it's easy, you can buy whatever you want with it. it's the most low-effort way to be thoughtful, and it takes the pressure off the person buying the gift to come up with something that fits your tastes.

Cash. It's easier for everyone, and you can always use more of it.

Since they're feeling so generous, something expensive that's relevant to my interests... like a game console that I couldn't afford otherwise. After all, they wouldn't insist if they weren't prepared for the answer, right? Why not take advantage of the opportunity and treat myself?

Not something that relies a lot on the other person's taste - so not clothes, because they'd get something hideous and I'd feel bad about returning it. Gift cards and cash work but a lot of people don't think they're intimate enough for real gifts.

Something specific would be good, like a particular book. The more specific you are the less likely you are to end up with something you don't want. Make sure it's easy to obtain and not too expensive, or they'll get you something else and you'll probably hate it.

if they're being that insistent, well... i'd go for something that i need
in my case it'd be art supplies, but i don't know how things work out for you

i always have the same problem my birthdays coming up next week and my familys bugging me about what to get me
i usually just tell them to give me money but that always feels kind of impersonal and theres not much to it visually
so i guess if i had to get SOMETHING maybe i'd ask for a book or a game, or clothes
but usually i let people surprise me

I would love anything that's new in the video game industry!
I've been meaning to try out a few and would love to see what they would get!

Why not ask for money? Or maybe just say you're touched but that you really, really don't need anything?

That can be difficult to know, can't it? Books with pictures of art in them, perhaps. Or anything that is art related overall. It really depends on a person's taste or interests though,
doesn't it?
