hello, everyone! :)
as many of us are aware, the senior class at recolle high school will be graduating soon, and well....
i am part of that class!
i guess because of this fact, i have been thinking that it is maybe time for me to be a bit more independent than i have been, and find a job
this is pretty easy in theory but i find that there is a problem that is maybe not much of a problem to some people but it has been giving me something to think about lol
namely, i do not know what to expect and how difficult getting my first job will be :o
if you have advice, i would definitely like to hear it!!!!
on the other hand, i would like to know what your first job was like, as a blanket sort of thing

ummm, so i guess to make this more concise, i have a few questions!
what was your first job?
what was getting it like?
would you recommend it to someone looking for a first job?

shouldn't be too hard if you have connections. hit up places your friends work, get an inside reference- then you're gonna know what to expect too, they can tell you.

even better if you know somebody higher up through family or something, that might get you in.

My first job was with Enchanted Blossoms, and I still work there.
It wasn't that terrifying. Mikoto's family was always very nice, and I gave them my resume. And, I certainly would say it is a nice place to work. I don't know if Mikoto is hiring right now, though.

Really, though, I hear getting a job is pretty easy for someone in high school, especially part time work.

I'm in academia so that probably doesn't help
There's just kind of an understanding that you work for the university when you enter grad school
That said if you're looking for something like a retail job I recommend a local store
You here all kinds of horror stories about big chains
Except Starbucks apparently they're great

It's a ton of hard work, and none of it is really any fun.
But if you're looking for a good job
It's really about who you know.

I had a summer job at a movie theater last year.
It was pretty easy and kind of fun and the hours were flexible.
And they didn't care that I'd never worked before.
Could be worth a look?

First job was at a fast food place.
It was awful. Don't do it.
Then it was Freshens. It was slightly less awful but still don't do it.
And my current hell is less shitty than all of the above.

i guess technically it was taking pictures for others but my first real job is still my job, delivering for a fast food place

i had to do some interviews! but otherwise they just wanted to make sure i'd get it done

I don't know if I can help because I've kind of always worked at my mom's bistro... ah, but now I have a part-time job at the library! I think they liked that I was really interested the section I work in? So I guess I would say, if you can't find something in the field you're really interested in, try looking for something you could at least have fun with. I think they can tell when someone is sincere and when they just want a job, you know?

I did some babysitting back in high school, but my first 'official' job was the one I got here in Recollé working at the cupcake bakery I'm at now

the interview process was very easy for me since I'd done a lot of volunteering up until that point too, so there were a lot of things about myself I could talk about as reasons why they should hire me even though I hadn't done a ton of baking before the job. For example: I'm a people person which would make me good at customer service, I'm a fast learner, good at organization, and an efficient worker, etc etc

I don't know if I would recommend it to you since we're not really in need of employees right now, but what I can say is that when you apply to any job, keep in mind those types of 'soft' skills that any job would need! You're ten times as likely to be hired if you mention that you're eager for experience and ready to take initiative (like you have here, asking questions!) compared to a guy who just wants the job for extra money

Pizza delivery. Still doing it. Then again, I only started a few months ago.

Pretty easy. I went in, filled out the application, they called me back, I talked to the guy for a while, and he gave me the job.

It's not a bad gig, but you do need a car or something to help you get around fast.

I've never had a paying job, but I've volunteered at the hospital my mom works at. It was mostly clerical and patient service stuff, though.

I don't know if I'd recommend it if you're not looking for a paying job, or if you're not looking to get into the medical field, though.

But wow. You've reminded me that I'm graduating this year. It seemed so much further away before....

i mean you know my answers to all these questions but i can totally answer them anyway
1) that ice cream shop
2) it was easy i just saw the help wanted poster went in and applied
3) probably i would since we got to eat free samples and that was the best job perk ever
