I'm not entirely sure what's going on but all I'm getting is that it's the equivalent of being hacked and someone who knows layer theory better than we do is out there screwing things up and tampering with the project. Hitori Togusa The guy who was trying to buy out Pesgare couldn’t have been acting alone. Other people were mentioning someone in Bosuma? Who else have we run into who actually seems to SEE that something is happening?

Hitori Togusa Correct. It was when we 'discovered' the area. Guy by the name of Nathaniel Hawthrone. He had backing, money, a fake deed to the town and everything. Pesgare took the man, himself, into custody, but I seriously doubted that he would be the last.

i see. it sounds like he was more interested in owning that town than doing anything to our city, but if there were other people like him in other places then maybe they were trying to surround us?

Hitori Togusa I don't know. Retrospec keeps insisting that we're special, maybe these people think the same.
Hitori Togusa I know Hawthrone wanted something else with the town, he was referring to 'the four original areas' and a power source located under Pesgare.

Hitori Togusa None of it makes sense, but if they believe it, they're going to act on it.

I only got the short version of what you faced in there. What were you fighting, and who was it that looked in charge?

If the Arisato girl didn't pop off the app she had been doing a more detailed write up...

But the gist of it ended up being purifying a curse. There's a very powerful magic wolf up there who was under a curse which then affected the land around it we had to collect fragments of and then beat the tar out of a bunch of monsters after going through trials to get there. The big final fight was in a colosseum arena, and there was definite someone who was there in the emperor's chair when it started and not there when we finished.

That's. Sick. Someone who was just watching you fight? But he hasn't popped up again since then? I went to Magatus in April, and I was dealing with a very different issue.

What do we even know about why those Founders split? Vanderweele wanted to change which worlds were saved?

And, then, you know, Vanderweele was behind murdering a bunch of the Spinnato family. Besides that.

Yeah, he wanted to get selective about which worlds were saved. But he also wanted to get selective about which souls are revived.

I think it was Wendy who commented that currently Retrospec has no control over which souls get rescued for reconstruction, but Vanderweele seemed to feel he had the right to judge which souls to keep.

Can I pause and say how weird my recall is now? I have to know where to look to get the picture-version of a thing. My own mind gets a vague trace, but then if I go deeper I can get the screenshots.

So let's say that this is someone following Vanderweele's ethos? Is this just a power grab, take control of the process and restart it with their own parameters in mind?

Hitori Togusa Still in custody outside of Pesgare. If anybody can find me a way to get a special dispensation to question him? I’d do it. But I dont actually have jurisdiction in Pesgare. Think it’s one of the things I like about the place.

Hitori Togusa Until right now, Retrospec was trying to insist it was the cause of reality storms. This is the first time they’ve admitted there’s anyone else in the fray at all. We’ve all suspected it though.

Soooo. Okay. I think there's a lot of power to be had in what Retrospec is trying to do, and someone wants their hands on that power.

I think they don't CARE about what happens to us in the meantime. At least a third of Retrospec seems to actually care.
