Per the mod plotting post, you may use this post to obtain one of this month's freebies! This month's freebie can be earned by turning in a thread on this post that has 10 or more consecutive comments from you.

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Alphas, Betas, and Epsilons will notice that network posts will continue to be tagged without names attached but rather their newly issued IDs. OOCly, IDs are comprised of their title, the date they showed up on the app, and the digits on your character's inbox post. So for example, the Recollé NPC who was on the app would have an ID of Beta#0201188329. While user pictures can be displayed, Retrospec users will also experience broken pixels on occasion that obscure the face of whoever they're speaking to. (i.e. we will allow for players to play with an anonymous option if they wish.)
zerotohiro: (That's disturbing)

A few people I recognize are Betas.
Maybe Retrospec doesn't know how the Greek alphabet works.
Retrospec hasn't responded at all about this?

Alpha#02010681 Our last message from them was a warning, confirming that the person who had killed Zee was on the app, using something they had been given from Retrospec.
Alpha#02010681 If nobody has explained, Retrospec's intrusion doesn't stop at the app. They keep sending items that they claim belong to us. And some of the time, those item have been dangerous.
Alpha#02010681 But they didn't explain about the names.
zerotohiro: (Adults make zero sense)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-04 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
If they already know it was one of us why aren't they doing anything to stop the guy? They're just letting him get away with murder and making us figure it out?
I hate Clue.
But no, nobody explained about items, exactly. Just powers.
...what've you gotten so far?

Alpha#02010681 Every time something like this comes up, they insist that they aren't allowed to 'interfere' with our lives. Never mind that they're interfering constantly.
Alpha#02010681 It's more complicated than that, but going through all the logic involved will take a while.

Alpha#02010681 Well. I got a robot.
zerotohiro: (I might have one)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-04 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
...they're not allowed to interfere, but they're allowed to give people robots?
Those are stupid rules.
What kind of robot?

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2018-10-04 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Alpha#02010681 It calls itself a Tachikoma. It has an artificial intelligence, personality interface, but it's almost like a smart car. I can drive it around. I think it can also connect to the Internet?

[Not mentioning the GIANT GUN on the front because Togusa took it off.]

Alpha#02010681 But it learns. It's really curious about the world around it because of that.
zerotohiro: (No kidding?)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-04 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. So you can teach it things and it'll pick up new skills? Can it change its appearance and stuff too?
standalonehuman: (TogusaTachi)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2018-10-04 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Alpha#02010681 I think it'll learn, I'm still testing it out.
Alpha#02010681 Its appearance is locked in, though. Uh, hang on.

[He attaches the icon picture so that he can get a look at the spider tank.]

Alpha#02010681 I guess, if you see this going around the city, it's one of the good guys?
zerotohiro: (Amazing)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-05 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa. That's kind of awesome. When'd you get it?
And I guess why. Do they just hand out stuff whenever they feel like it?
standalonehuman: (TogusaTalk2)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2018-10-05 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Alpha#02010681 I got it a few weeks ago.
Alpha#02010681 Maurice, the Retrospec employee who is in charge of giving things out? He insists that things come to them. He's hinted that it's a byproduct of whatever process it is they're doing to make us remember memories. And, well, it wouldn't be fair to hang on to those things if they belong to us is what Retrospec believes. The logic is twisted, but it exists.
Alpha#02010681 They've changed their policy so that if they give us something that we aren't comfortable with, we can give it back. But it would be mean to give back the robot, then it would have nothing to do.
zerotohiro: (No seriously)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-05 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
When you put it that way it makes it sound like you don't believe the same thing. Why keep it if you don't?
Other than wanting to give the robot a job.
standalonehuman: (TogusaPonder2)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2018-10-05 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Alpha#02010681 I mean. It's got an artificial intelligence. It's some level of self-aware. It's less about giving it a job, and more that it deserves the chance to explore and learn about the world it finds itself in. I'm learning as much about it as it is from everything else.
zerotohiro: (Systematic)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-05 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
And you're not worried about it gaining too much sentience and overthrowing everything in its path?
(Not that it would, exactly. It depends on what it processes and learns. And what its primary function is in the first place.)
standalonehuman: (TogusaThoughtful)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2018-10-08 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Alpha#02010681 It's strange. I know that the people in the world I'm remembering? I know they were worried about them growing too much.
Alpha#02010681 But I'm not very clear on why. It certainly isn't malevolent at all! Almost too childish to think of such a thing.
zerotohiro: (Default)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-08 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless these things maybe fell in the wrong hands or were assigned to someone who was malevolent themselves.
standalonehuman: (TogusaPonder2)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2018-10-08 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe that's why they have just enough intelligence to keep that from happening? Hmm.

As I said, I'm still learning. But I'm trying to come up with something else for it to do, unconnected to my job. Can't be a good influence on it.
zerotohiro: (Lasers 101)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-09 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You could set it up on patrol duty. Make sure those bugs aren't still around or something.
standalonehuman: (TogusaRealization)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2018-10-09 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
We did run into the bugs, so at least it would know what to look for? Maybe that's a good idea. I should warn people on the network that this one's on our side if they come across the Tachikoma.
zerotohiro: (Well that's fine too)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2018-10-09 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a bad idea. It can be way more than it was designed for, so may as well try it.
That would also help though. It looks like there's more new people than I thought so...I don't know. They might get freaked out.
